Wait. So the person attacking the quote on quote 'fangirl' is backing her claims by not so subtly pointing out (several times) that she has 'friends' in the business? Seems a little silly.
Every situation is different. I don't think anyone on here except Mr. Jordan himself can comment on the reasons behind his absences. Unless any of you happen to be his publicist. I which case, I apologize.
I guess by some of the logic on this board, certain stars (like certain leads of 'Once) with terminally ill relatives should not take off for a few days to go be with their loved ones because it will reflect badly on them. This thread is just full of contradictions. You wanna see Jeremy Jordan that badly? Rent "Joyful Noise". I guarantee he'll be in that .
@kyl3fong2- I checked twitter, and Corey Cott was on tonight. Although there is a policy for the swings and understudies to not reveal who they are going on for before the show, apparently there is a new twitter (tweeter? don't have it so I don't know what it's called), that updates info if someone happens to go by the theatre to see the cast list for the evening @nwsunderstudies
Cause if Harvey hears someone is out he goes to their house and sits on them. (not in a good way).

I'm about to decide that Kelly2 must be trolling. She cannot possibly be that obtuse. But then again, maybe she can be.
One of my hobbies is to go to political bulletin boards to slice and dice some of the right wing lunatics on occasion. It's not something I do all the time, but it's easy, and well, it's a dirty little job, and someone has to do it. One thing I have found when dealing with these crazies is that many of them like to create their own reality, and when confronted with facts, logic or actual evidence, they absolutely refuse to accept any of it because it would force them to momentarily abandon their comfortable little make believe world where there is no logic, and facts are whatever they want them to be. In their eyes, they never lose an argument because they've already made up their minds, dammit, and nothing is going to change that. I'm beginning to see some commonalities between those exchanges and what has been going on here.
Kelly2 has been told a number of times that this is most likely scheduling issue, not a fatigue issue, yet she continues to base her attacks on Jordan on her purely imagined notion that a day's work of shooting for a TV show leaves him too tired to perform. She knows absolutely nothing about the guy, is not privy to any private conversations or inside information regarding his reasons for missing shows, yet she has decided that it must be because he's too lazy or he doesn't care, with no actual evidence to support her little fantasy. Now she's decided that his signing to star in a network TV show that was not set to begin shooting until after Newsies originally scheduled limited run (as well as its extension) were completed, reflects a lack of character. Again, she reached this conclusion without having any knowledge of the actual conversations, commitments, schedules, or negotiations.
My own conclusion is that launching an attack on a public bulletin board against a performer for alleged sins that appear to be completely imagined, itself reflects a lack of character, and that perhaps the time one originally scheduled to see Newsies with one's mother might be better spent with the two of them spending enough time together so that she can help her adult child fill in some of those character gaps, or at least enough of them so that the spoiled five year old who starts throwing things when she doesn't get what she wants doesn't come out so often.

I'm going tomorrow evening.
Do you think JJ won't be in it?
Back Row, you're telling me a huge corporation like Disney and a television show like Smash could not have negotiated a logical schedule? It is done all the time.
But it's fine, I'm not being obtuse, I'm just being annoyed.

Kelly2, my point all along has been that blaming the performer, and manufacturing reasons to blame him, was not an appropriate response in this case. Comments about work ethic and lack of character were completely out of line. You're right, this is a Disney / NBC thing and someone on that end should have come come up with a better solution than they did. Blame them. Be angry at them. Don't get mad at a guy whose only sin, as far as I can tell, was to underestimate the logistics of fulfilling his obligations to two employers at the same time.
No, I'm sorry, I don't follow that line of logic. You should be aware of your career and Jordan should know well that being the "face" of a show, means that you will be held responsible to a certain degree. If he's uncomfortable with having his work ethic and ability to sustain 8 performances a week questioned, then it is up to him to find a solution that feels appropriate, not just continue to let yourself look bad because the scheduling is tough.
I'm just sick of not being able to see performances from some who are frequently unreliable without being that psycho fangirl up there seeing it 15-20 times and buying a standing room seat on ten minutes notice. Some of us have lives.

As I recall, he found a solution. He's leaving one show to concentrate on the other. And he's only guaranteed that he will be there for the three performances on Saturday and Sunday. It sounds t me like he's being very responsible.
And I know you are not likely to ever come around to my line of logic, because you've chosen to live in a world that rejects it. However, I will repeat that you made some very inappropriate accusations toward Jordan, when it was abundantly clear that you had no earthly idea what you were talking about, and no amount of backtracking and self justification is going to give those accusations credibility. People who know him defended him, and people who know how business is conducted know how foolish your assumptions are. You can't win this argument anywhere but in your own mind, because the facts are simply not on your side.
Enjoy the show tonight. I understand that Corey Cott is very good.
Oh yawn with the hysterics and the pearl-clutching, Back Row. The girl who "knows him" runs his creepy fansite, wow, you're right, that industry insider really just whacked me with some "facts".
Sorry, the compromise of only appearing at certain shows without that information appearing on the ticket-buying website and being public when the theatre is called (I did phone them regarding dates of his possible absence and this was not mentioned as one) is deceptive and unfair to fans of the show. I stand by everyone's right to see the performance advertised if they are interested in seeing it and it's not unreasonable to expect a performer to live up to their 8 show a week contract unless it is publicly and specifically stated when tickets are purchased that it isn't the case.

Everything you have complained about appears to be a Disney issue. Jordan is a talented guy, but to my knowledge he does not do Disney's marketing, or run their website, or control their ticketing policy, or control their public relations, or as I said earlier, dabble in time travel. Disney may have handled this badly, but I can find no evidence that Jordan has had any control over any issues here that would make a rational person angry. Of course, an irrational person may have other ideas....
@Kelly2 it sounds to me you are just going to see Jeremy Jordan and no one else... you wouldn't be putting up such a fuss if you weren't.
Please allow me to say this... When I bought tickets to "Newsies" I bought them because I wanted to see "Newsies" the show, not Jeremy Jordan in "Newsies" -- he's not a "name" actor, at least not outside of the Broadway community. Now, I'll fully admit to wanting to see his performance, (subsequently I did, and I enjoyed it immensely) but I don't think I would have enjoyed the show any less if I saw it with Corey Cott.
Yes, he has the lead role, and he may be the breakout star - every show has one, and it is perfectly acceptable to want to see that person that has been getting the notices. But to your original point (and this is my opinion, not fact), the vast majority of those coming to the show are doing so to see the show itself, not necessarily any one person, so in turn, why would the producers feel the need to publicize if Jordan would be absent (and subsequently publicize an alternate schedule). It wouldn't matter, at least to the general public.
My advice: see the show with your mother and enjoy the time you will spend together... I saw it two weeks ago with my dad and we had a great time!
Yawn.

I run the @nwsunderstudies twitter. The only reason I posted about Julian going on ahead of time is b/c I saw he personally posted on his twitter beforehand. Most of the time I'll check the newsies tag and hopefully will have it up by intermission if I remember.

I'm not sure why this is such an issue... He is not an above the title star of Newsies, hence you are not entitled to a refund if he is out. I understand that it's frustrating to miss someone in a show that you'd been hoping to see, but that's Broadway. It happens.
I also find these jabs at Jeremy's work ethic pretty confusing considering Kelly2 has stated that she's worked on a show with Jeremy and that's why she wants to see him. A whole lotta mixed signals going on here, if you ask me. I can hardly keep up!

@kelly2 irritates the sh*t out of me. especially for someone who allegedly works in the industry.
hope she isn't too busy bitching about Jeremy to make it to the show tonight.
that's all.

Kelly2, I think you sincerely need help. You are a bitter, angry person who seems to have delusions of grandeur about your life. Every single one of your posts on here are mean-spirited, mocking, and sharp-edged in tone. You bash other people for being "crazy", yet you back your statements up by this claim that you work in "the business" (which frankly, I don't believe for one moment given your behavior on here), and then you claim that you enjoy Jeremy Jordan and want to see him perform, but have no problem ripping at his work ethic (even though that's "not" the reason you're going to the show). Then you attack other people on this board and make assumptions about their lives or careers, even though you spend JUST as much time on here as anyone else. This whole complaint from you is whiny and obnoxious. Maybe you'll see Jordan. Maybe you won't. Be thankful that a star being out of a performance is the biggest upset in your life. If it bothers you that much, go see a movie instead. I highly doubt that your quote on quote "experience" in the business makes you an expert on certain people's work ethic and how hard it is being in a show. Unless you're a performer yourself, that claim is beyond ridiculous. Get off your high horse.
As far as the show, I'm sure it'll be wonderful either way, I'm a longtime fan of Chris Gattelli's and the songs from the movie are wonderful, I can't imagine it won't be better than some other things in recent memory. It just would have been a LITTLE bit nicer to see the performance that people are talking about (negatively and positively) so I can form an opinion of my own, and to see someone perform who I have found previously to be very talented, but it is what it is, eh?

I guess that just goes to show that Jeremy has terrible work ethic, eh Kelly2?
He's working his ass off doing two full time jobs. You say he needs to choose one or the other, and he did! He chose Smash, which is huge for him. If Disney wanted him out or hated him for this, they would've kicked him out immediately. Corey Cott was clearly ready to replace seeing as he's been performing for the past few weeks. They clearly came to some sort of amicable terms, and hey, maybe Jeremy will be huge and Disney will want him back to close Newsies out.
I hope you enjoyed Corey tonight. And I hope your mom was able to tune you out enough to enjoy the show as well!

Newsies is in all likelihood going to emerge in a number of different venues over the years, the most immediate being a tour and a possible West End run. And keep in mind that Corey Cott is also getting married soon, and he will be taking a couple of weeks off for his own wedding and honeymoon, possibly when Jeremy Jordan is on hiatus from Smash. It is in the best interests of all involved that they maintain a healthy, productive relationship because they all need one another. I'm sure that both Disney and Jordan are smart enough to realize that, and they are being careful not to burn any bridges. (a limited run of Newsies in the West End starring Jordan and his new wife Ashley Spencer is an intriguing prospect.)
I was in the Newsies audience tonight. And I was glad to NOT have seen the annoying @Kelly2 there (because God knows she would have just been b*tching about Jeremy Jordan not being there).
But all that being said, NEWSIES was simply AMAZING. I loved the show and thought that Corey Cott was phenomenal as Jack.
