I saw Corey on Jack the last wednesday matinee and he was amazing! I was not disappointed at all.
Why would Spencer get a job in the West End?
Is she a Brit.
Cott is taking off a few weeks to get married?
That's re-dic...
All the animosity is cracking me up, y'all need to get lives. Corey was fine, I don't think I questioned his talent or abilities anywhere in this thread, I wasn't worried about him not giving a perfectly capable performance. To me, he was outshone by the ensemble but that may be the case with Jeremy as well, IMO the choreography is the real star of the show. I was just lamenting the sadness of the way this deal has been worked out because it makes it very difficult to see the performance that they have spent so much money advertising, which is not right.
Also: Jordan does not have a standby (or does he?) and his understudy is not the one going on, they are billing Cott as an alternate. Alternates, typically, have planned performances that they go on at and the schedule is typically public. It is not out of line to wonder why this should be an allowed exception to that tradition, especially when money will not be refunded over the star's absence. I mean, it's his last week and there is no information at all on what performances he will be available for her? Literally 2-3 days in advance? That's insane. Barring extreme, sudden physical illness, bronchitis, or something of that nature, it shouldn't be hard to have a dialogue between Smash and Newsies about which shows Jeremy will be capable of performing in....within the next 5 days. Come on now.
But if you guys just wanna whine and scream about how unfair and mean it all is to your beloved Jeremy Jordan, then feel free to go ahead.
"y'all need to get lives. "

Laughing my ass off...we're the ones that are whining...
I think I hear the world's tiniest violin playing...
Hey, I'm not the one whining about poor Jeremy with all his tens of thousands of dollars and his two high-profile jobs, how dare the mean lady on the message board accuse him of being *gasp* self-serving and vacuous. Pretty much all actors are self-serving and vacuous to an extent, you almost have to be. It's not really a shocking allegation.
I am sure if for some reason he was upset by someone questioning his choice of strategy regarding missed performances then he could very easily console himself with his piles of money, job on a major television show, beautiful wife, etc. He doesn't need a bunch of lackeys on a message board protecting him from criticism.
And as I said already, the show was fine and the quality of Corey Cott's performance vs. the quality of Jeremy's is completely irrelevant to the argument I was making.
Welcome back, Rath. You've been missed.
