adamgreer, I don't comment unless I've read the entire thread. Thanks for asking, though. My comment was in response to the comment not only by matineeidol but also by you when you asked "Is he taking over full time?" The answer is no, Matt will be Tony. Good grief.

actually... your information is incorrect. How did you "understand it" that he turned them down? Whatever auditions are happening are independent of the accurate facts people have reported here.

Why would he post something 3 hours ago on his twitter page if he had turned it down? I could understand an error on facebook- maybe the fan page moderator had wrong information, but why would he himself post it on his twitter if it weren't true? I'm not trying to be rude, just wondering why he would do that.

No. Completely different person. This Jeremy Jordan currently understudies Drew (Constantine's role) in Rock of Ages and was also in the tour of Little Dog Laughed.

I'm so excited for Jeremy. He will be great as Tony. He stars on December 16.

Jeremy will play Tony Wednesday evenings and Saturday matinees. Matt Hydzik will play Tony for the other 6 performances.

Jeremy also runs his own fan page and twitter so any information on those accounts posted by him are him.

BrianS, I did an ensemble track in Evita where I was belting High Cs 8x a week, so trust me, I know. And this isn't anymore vocally demanding than Elphaba in Wicked.

I agree that just singing high doesn't make a role vocally demanding (especially with those people who's voices naturally sit up there), but both Tony and Chris from Miss Saigon require a combination of singing high in a very full way with full throated screaming in anguish that is very hard on the voice. Just one man's opinion.

I just announced on my Twitter page that I will be taking over the role of Maria.

I will be performing in drag and doing my best Orfeh impression (well my best Orfeh as a latina impression).

I will also not be signing playbills so please don't crowd me after the performance.

Might actually need to make a trip back to WSS now. His Drew was one of the most pleasant surprises of my last trip to Rock of Ages. Having seen Constantine 4 times I was happy for another take on the role and he was fantastic. The wig? Notsomuch. But that voice? Whooolordy.

I believe I would kick a puppy for the chance to see Jeremy Woodard go on as Drew. Those chances going up are pretty much the silver lining to not getting to see Jeremy Jordan on as Drew anymore. Well that, and he'll make a smoking hot Tony.

BrianS - that still doesn't make it a vocally demanding role. Matt C. could do it just fine 8x a week, no? Josh Young could do it 8x a week on tour, no? The chick in "God of Carnage" is doing A LOT of screaming 8x a week and is doing just fine.
