Let's just all agree that "Words and Music" was a remarkable and enlightening special. I enjoyed so much of the show, the clips, the interviews and as far as Michael Feinstein is concerned....
He LOOKED GORGEOUS...sounded wonderful, and he does a beautiful rendition of "I Won't Send Roses". This is a song that if we are lucky he will sing in concert....and he nails it everytime. I absolutely love his CD..."The Jerry Herman Songbook" and I wish everyone would leave Michael alone. He is a musical genius himself and to see him play tribute to Jerry Herman was so wonderful.
I also have the DVD "Live at the Hollywood Bowl" where Michael does sing a stunning rendition of this song AGAIN!...
They are both unique and special talents in this world and I wish everyone would just say..."Yes....they each bring a little more sunshine into our lives!"...at least I think they do.
Let's keep this bright and happy, shall we people??

I don't agree that it was remarkable or enlightening, except about the real scope of Jerry Herman's ego, which would seem to fit snugly in the Grand Canyon.
And I can't agree about that Feinstein Creature. That sh*t-eating grin and smarmy voice turn my stomach. I rather liked what some of the other people had to say about Herman's music, but no, they had to keep cutting back to Feinstein for more of his own special brand of cheese.

Actually, thought the "pulled" look was from the 15 pounds he gained in his face.
I love Micheal, however, and thought his sections of "words & Music" were full of vocal strain and scooped notes.
Sad

I didn't think Jerry had an ego...I saw a man who was dedicated to his work.
Also, Michael Feinstein reminded me alot of BARRY MANILOW! haha!

What turned into a tribute to Jerry Herman has now morphed into Michael Feinstein bashing, and although we have "Freedom of Speech" as Americans, I can't help but remember this saying..."If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all!".
Michael Feinstein is someone so many artists aspire to be like, want to sound like, and long to be a part of his circle of friends. Michael Feinstein is a man who cares about everyone, from his family to his friends to all his fans. Michael is one of the most caring individuals I have ever met, and let's not forget how remarkably gifted this man is and continues to be. From his beautiful vocals to his phenomenal artistry at the piano, I for one admire him and am proud to be a supporter.
Why do you posters feel the need to comment on how he looks? I think he is gorgeous (as do so many others), and his special qualities shine from the inside out. His smile can light up any arena, and we adore Michael for all he has brought to the world.
He, like Jerry Herman do make this world a better place, their music (each on their own) put a skip in your walk, a beat in your heart and I know you smile whenever you play their music.
Let's just remember, with all the sadness in the world, thank god for these two incredible men. They change the lives of so many daily and for the better.
