Does anyone remember this little gem?
I remember reading that CBS was looking for a musical vehicle for it's #1 star at that time Angela Lansbury and at first, they very thinking of making Gypsy, but then Jerry Herman's Mrs Santa Claus, that was developed specifically for Lansbury, came along.
I absolutely love this movie! Of course Ms. Lansbury is absolutely fantastic in the title role, but the film also owes a great deal to Jerry Herman's wonderful music.
By the way, do you think it could be successfully adapted as a stage musical?

It's one of my holiday favorites. And you can't go wrong with costumes by Bob Mackie!
Love this movie. Wish I could find a DVD of it that doesn't cost $50 (or more).
It's a shame, really. I honestly don't understand why it can't get a proper DVD release.
Give Elf a rest next year & bring this to Broadway for Christmas

Speaking of Ms. Lansbury. Here's she driving her KIA while shopping in LA this week (like if we needed another reminder of how awesome she is).

One a sidenote, the hard to find "Mrs. 'Arris Goes To Paris" is another Lansbury gem.
