re: Jersey Boys London

I have to say that after seeing the show a couple of weeks ago with no understudies, I throughouly enjoyed it. The cast was extremely strong, and actually were able to pull of the american accents. The house was pretty full, looked like a decent wednesday night to me, and still went wild for the show. Nice to see this show that I couldn't even get tickets to in the US.

re: Jersey Boys London

I have a teensy qn regarding box offices in general.

Is it guaranteed that if you go down to the box office on the morning of the performance, you get best available for about 20-25pds?

Also, can you purchase tickets at the box office for performances on another day?

Are there cancellation queues, lotteries, student rushes at all for West End theatres?

When does box office close for the day?

If anyone can help, that'll be great. I have always gotten tickets online.

re: Jersey Boys London

Not sure if the theatre do student discount tickets but
you can get front row seats for £21:50 which includes
booking fee. They are cheaper than normal as the seats
are classed as a restricted view. The stage is high but
you dont really miss anything. For the best view on the
front row try and book seat numbers from 12-20

re: Jersey Boys London

Are these tickets only available the day of the show and at the box office??
Thanks you

re: Jersey Boys London

At first you had to get them on the day from the
box office, but now you can pre-book them on-line
best to book them asap as they tend to go very quick

re: Jersey Boys London

I saw Jersey Boys last night on the Metro offer and got my ticket from the box office for £20, after being advised to do so when I rung the handling agents.

The Balcony was closed again and the theatre was sparsely populated!

I am aloud to tell white lies on here, ok good, here goes.........the show was 'bloody fantastic'.

re: Jersey Boys London

I finally caught up with Jersey Boys this weekend. Jye Frasca was on as Frankie Valli, but the other three leads were the original cast. At first I thought I was looking in the US mirror at Billy Elliot with the talk of how everyone wants to get out of the local town due to the limited options available there, and how the performimg arts are a way of doing so. But that's about as far as the comparison went and I quickly forgot about it.

Perhaps because The Four Seasons were chart music before my time it didn't seem like a jukebox musical. Or perhaps its because of the well written book that defined character, built tension and gave a sense of progression very well. The songs weren't allowed to hold things back even if they weren't fully integrated: I'm not surpised that the director, Des McAnuff, also directed Tommy. I really felt the frustrations of the group members with Tommy De Vito, and with Glenn Carter's acting expertise in the role he really made my flesh crawl. I don't understand why Frankie Valli is considered the leading role in this: I thought much of the drama of the piece came from the confrontation between Tommy and Bob Gaudio and again high praise for Stephen Ashfield bringing a third dimension to a character that could easily have had only two; ditto Philip Bulcock. I did think the portrayal of Bob Crewe drew on gay cliche that seemed at first funny but left a stale taste later (see my review of Spring Awakening).

So this ticked all the boxes and deserved its Olivier Award. But why was I the only person left sat in my seat at the clap-along finale? It just didn't give me that ultimate shot-in-the-arm feelgood fix that others have done.

re: Jersey Boys London

The Las Vegas production of 'Jersey Boys has just won two top awards in the World Capital Of Entertainment!
'The Best Of Las Vegas' award
and
'Entertainment Of The Year' award.

And its still playing to 70/80% houses in London.

re: Jersey Boys London

And I'm sure it's playing to the same capacity in Vegas, if that.

re: Jersey Boys London

70/80% or very often more is very good for a show after 14 months and in a 1700 seat theatre.
This is the show that everyone said would fail and didn't have an audience in the UK.
It isn't going anywhere before next March

re: Jersey Boys London

I think our Broadway friends dont take in to account the seating capacity of the prince Edward 1700, and the August Wilson 1200
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna

re: Jersey Boys London

The Palazzo Theatre in Vegas seats 1400.

re: Jersey Boys London

I don't think I've been in the Prince Edward since Evita! It was a stunningly beautiful and very different interior - art deco(?) but warm and opulent instead of austere.

And I think my reluctance to get up at the end was pure ageism on my part - the theatre was full of silver tops enjoying themselves and I felt a bit out-numbered.

Why, how many of you blue rinses were in?

re: Jersey Boys London

Mama will berate me for this, but I still can't muster enthusiasm to see this show- I just don't like the Four Seasons. By the way, who plays Vivaldi?

re: Jersey Boys London

I am by no means a 4 Seasons fan and I generally hate jukebox shows - but I have to say I loved this show. It has a strong, slick book and the performances are all top notch.

Same here. I was never a Four Seasons fan and can't even say I am now. But I've seen the show over 30 times, twice in London.
