Craig, I am well aware his voice is not on a click track. I was under the impression that the back up singers DID enhance his voice, though. Which is what I meant by that comment.
And I have nothing against JLY. He is such a talented guy! I love his performance. Just made a comment that some took the wrong way.
I don't think we took it the wrong way. I think, perhaps, you worded it incorrectly. You said quite clearly "Maybe that whole recorded voice thing is true, who knows."
That doesn't reference back up singers or (in my opinion) refer to anything other than the implication that part of his performance is recorded.
Much as I love seeing the Boys on tv, I almost wish they would make less appearances (on tv and around town) and not overtax their voices. JLY's voice did sound a little worn out to me. Although the sound on Live sucks too.
I saw the show on Tuesday night (my second time) and I could tell that JLY's voice was a little strained at times during the falsetto. He still sounded fabulous, especially during Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You (my personal favorite) He also happens to be one of the nicest guys and I wish him the best of luck at the Tony's. He really does deserve it.

when I saw the show about a month ago he sounded amazing -- but he sings SO much, and has such demanding songs, I can't imagine what it's like to push your voice that far every night plus appearances on silly morning talk shows!
Okay, let's discuss how where I live, a stupid special news report cut out the first song. So I got the second half.

They were very good (except for the little vocal flubs). Hugh was cute on the show today too. :)
For all those criticizing him: let's hear your high falsetto at 9:30 AM.
I thought it was fantastic! All the boys seemed to be having so much fun, and they performed fantastically.

Considering there were two shows on Wednesday & an early morning TV appearance, I still think the guys did a great job this morning. It's gotta be tough to do a morning gig after last night's performance.
I also liked hearing some other tunes this morning--Rag Doll, My Eyes Adored You, & Big Girls Don't Cry (with the usual TV appearance song Walk Like a Man).

I think what also hurt was that John's microphone was REALLY hot. He was belting it out as usual, but the balance was off, so it sounded like he was blowing out the speakers. Every little crack or flaw in his voice was broadcast at super high levels. Plus the ol' 9:30am 'thang...
It was GREAT to hear them break from the usual medley, though!! Huzzah for Ragdoll and My Eyes Adored Ya... heck, even Big Girls Don't Cry!! This tape is DEFINATELY a keeper.

True that! I was really hoping it wouldn't be the normal medley (now if we could just get "Big Man in Town"...). And I have to admit that even though I don't think they sounded their best, I was just so excited to see them. Although I also found out that seeing them on tv doesn't come close to seeing them live (but then again, what does?).
do you have my submission for the book?> I thought I sent it to you.
let me knwo what you have I would liek to add more

It wasn't bad, yeah john's sounded tired but then agian I think anybodys voice would sound tired after what 54 songs or more the day before most in them in high falsetto.
I think did wonderful, they all looked great and looked like they were having fun.
They were beyond fabulous, as always! God, I love those guys lol!
