Hey all, I was recently re-watching the video CBS2 put together on John Lloyd Young for the Tonys, and in the brief end segment, they showed a MASS of people at the stage door! Is it always that crowded now? When I went a few months ago, there were only 3 other people on a warm night!
I went in November and waited to say hello to someone I know in the cast and there was no one waiting.
nowadays, yes, the stage door is crowded like that. but its nothing too crazy.
it just started to be like that too...I remember going in april and there was like no one there.

I am sure that now it will be CRAZY, but when the show first opened it was quite empty
i have been to the stage door three times...Oct, Nov and Dec...all three times there were only a handful of people there waiting. One time, I was one of TWO people waiting! Guess things have changed drastically since then.
yeah i was there in January after a matinee and it was me and my dad and one other lady and her husband. but then it was also a little on teh drizzling/snow flurry side. and all of the "boys" came out and talked for a little and posed for pictures.
Well, that's great that they are getting more recognition. It always burned me when the cast of Hairspray came out to a horde of people and thunderous applause, while the Jersey Boys cast came out to just a handful of devoted fans.
I saw the show again at the end of May and there was a little crowd. Everyone came out and I got pictures with Christian, JLY, Daniel, Bobby, Michael and Peter. They all signed playbills too.
where does the stage door for JB happen to be located?
To the left of the entrance to the theatre (facing the theatre) You should see a little barricade.

It is starting to get very crazy at the stage door. The worse part is they only have two barricades so people really congest at the end of it and when one of the boys comes out they push. Hopefully they can get one or two more barricades b/c last time I was there it took John like 10 minutes to get through the massive crowd to leave.
i just saw the show for the first time this passed saturday...it was amazing. after the show, there was like 20-25 people at the stage door and i had the oppurtunity to meet the entire cast. J. Robert Spencer asked me where i was from and I said texas...excited, he asked where? i said houston. he smiled and said hold on...dug in his bag, and pulled out a UT Longhorn hat, put it on, and said, im from texas (plano, i think.) we both started laughing and i got a pic. christian hoff was amazing as well. and john lloyd young too. Im sure they get very tired of signing all those autographs every single night, but they are still very appreciative of the support, so bravo to the cast!

I was there a couple weeks ago for a Sat. matinee (a week after the Tonys) and the stage door was a mob scene. I don't know how many people there were, but it seemed like alot. I agree that they need more barricades, the guys had no real means to escape.

I was there in mid Feb. and the middle aged women were pushing me into the barracade so hard I could barely keep my place. It was a mad house. But, I did get my pictures and autographs. It was fun to see the support from an older audience the way those ladies were so insistant on seeing those guys
I guess the moral is... depends on the performance? The first show after the Tonys (yeah house right girls!!) was the craziest I've ever seen the stage door, but before that it wasn't really bad. Actually, when I saw the show in April it was VERY small- about 20 people tops? It'll be interesting to compare when I see the show again in August.

Yes, it wasn't crowded at all after the Saturday evening (6/24) performance. Too bad the show didn't really thrill me.
I'm glad people are eager to see the show and meet the actors, but I can't help but be a little disheartened. When I stage doored back in March, there weren't that many people waiting around which gave me the chance to chat it up a bit with the cast members. Hopefully things will have cooled down a bit by the time I make it down there again.
Is the video posted online anywhere?
yes i believe it is on broadway.com--I will try to fine it--.
yea...its not a LARGE crowd, but there are people
Does every one come out after the matinees? I just got my SRO ticket and I am so excited to see it!
I was there June 3rd at an evening performance, there were some people at the stage door but not many. I met all four of the guys though which was great
I'm sure its nuts now! I can't imagine :-p
Anthony3 - everyone does come out maintees and evening performances too
Everyone comes out after matinees, yes. If you want an ensemble member, though, you'll have to ask them - most don't sign.
I saw it yesterday... the sow was amazing. They did all come out after! It was fun!
Thanks for the help!!
