#1- Jersey Boys is a cheap show to run and it never ran below the nut.
#2- Another unfortunate casualty of the closing: my friend tells me Jermey Kushnier was in contract negotiations to return as Tommy until January.
Now that would have been a proper send off.
toguy, just so you know, Dancin' was cancelled by Roundabout Theatre Company, NOT Dancap. That isn't his fault.

fashionguru_23- fair enough, but I still think he's out of business.
Has anyone considered the fact that if ticket sales pick up with the closing notice, that it may be extended? Other shows that have posted closing notices in Toronto have seen a surge in ticket sales and delayed their closings by several weeks, if not months.
Just a thought.

HOT DAMN. I agree.
As for a possible extension, I had similar thoughts, but Jeff Madden seems pretty insistent:

I guess we'll see.

Here's the problem with any possible extension:
-Quinn (Bob) was suppose to leave on the 29th, and Dan (Tommy) a week later -I think. These guys would either have to agree to stay on longer or a decision would have to be made really quick as to whether an extension would occur so they could be replaced and rehearsals for those replacements could start.
-Although many shows in Toronto and elsewhere have successfully done a 'we're closing' and 'extended by popular demand' routine (Lion King ran a good 6 months after it's 'closing notice' in Toronto) the timeline is so tight that even if it were to occur, there would be no time to convert any momentum into a new block. Any announcement would have to happen next week or the week after. I've been at two closing announcements and the producer has mentioned that if things pick up there's a possibility of it running longer- that they're trying the 'closing announcement' to spur sales and they're going to try some new things.... From what I hear, Aubrey was pretty final.

And so it goes: Dancap lays of 30 as there is 'nothing to sell'
