re: Jersey Boys- London

Further to my previous post, the re-edit of Beggin' has entered the UK Top 40 at No. 32. Ostensibly this is a sheer coincidence, with the re-edit being done by a Parisian DJ as a bootleg and a hit gradually emerging from the underground dance scene.

A more cynical person might suspect that there was nothing spontaneous about the re-edit and that it was all done to enhance the marketing of Jersey Boys in London.

From today's Daily Mail: "Brits get Frankie Fever".

I'm not sure about the wisdom of the decision but lets see. I'd love to be a fly on the wall at those auditions.

The link isnt working. Why would you love to be a fly on the wall at the auditions?

re: Jersey Boys- London

sorry about the link but no doubt you can google the Daily Mail.

I'm just curious how they're going to find some one in Britain who can sound and look reasonably like a plausible Frankie Valli.

re: Jersey Boys- London

I know! Let's do a casting reality show! We'll call it "You're Just too Good to be True" or "Walk Like a Man". Let's allow TV audiences to cast the show.

Just kidding....

Young tony award at the stagedoor....i wish i had a camera then. its a great show.
by the way its a enjoyable show just like Legally Blonde.
They are enjoyable in two different ways if you catch my drift.

Someone posted that it's initially booking for just months.
In fact it's booking for nearly 8 months for individuals,

The 2007 remix of 'Beggin' must be one of the worst things ive heard in ages. If you listen to the OBC Cd then to the remix its, its well.... i dont understand why they bothered- dreary, yes thats the word dreary, dreary, dreary,

Casting news!

Bad news for JLY fans in today's Daily Mail. Ryan Molloy is tipped to play Frankie.

Did I see Ryan do Taboo on tour and Jerry Springer?

Name rings a bell!

Not necessarily. In the Broadway and touring productions 2 actors are cast to play Frankie Valli, one does 6 shows and the other does 2. So there is still the possibility that JLY could be brought over to the West End when the show opens and Ryan Molloy, if approved, could be the alternate.

Re: "Im tired of telling people how much Londons gonna love JB"

I feel your pain. There are a lot of us over here who have had a belly full of everyone saying "Billy Elliot" is going to be the greatest thing to hit Broadway since George M. Cohen.

I think that CD was the only one of two I've ever bought that I listened to once before putting it away in my "Never Again" file.

Casting news!

Oh Dear! They look an uncharismatic bunch. I can't see the ladies swooning in the aisles for this lot. What's worse they look suitable to represent a 1950's British skiffle band not Italian-Americans from New Jersey

I'd hoped for JLY and Christian Hoff to give the show a really good launch.Don't forget Jersey Boys is not an *automatic* hit in the UK. The 4 Seasons had fewer hits and their following is more of a limited cult than a widespread one.

Let's hope my criticism is baseless.

Casting news!

Agreed. But Bob wasn't bad looking and I believe Frankie would have had a waif like appeal(or what the french call gamin).

At least they didn't look like tellers in a 1950's English bank

Casting news!

Now now people be nice lol

They are really pushing this show, they were a full page advert in the Metro paper here in Manchester (so im guessing it was the same in each regions version of the metro)

Its such a great show, i hope it does well
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna

Casting news!

Not a bad show at all. A bit limp and dull in places but a decent addition to the west end.

Casting news!

Ive seen the show twice now in San Francisco and i can not for the life of me remember a 'limp' or 'dull' moment in this show. Yes, i was expecting a lot less than i saw- its a truly fast paced show with some very moving moments, stunning cast, terrific choreography and a brilliant orchestra/band! Its gonna be huge in London, just sit back and wait and see.

it is a great show - it's just I'd have liked them to look more Italian-American. I was spoilt by seeing the original cast just after the opening in NY.Nothing is going to match them
#47

Casting news!

I agree. Personally I don't think anyone could live up to the original Broadway line up. I have still been hoping JLY & Christian will come over for the first few months, that is now looking more and more unlikely.

I'm sure these guys will be great, but first impression is not filling me with confidence. I just really want this show to do well over here.

Casting news!

Ruby, the casting was completed 2 weeks ago. You will be dissapointed to hear that its a UK company we've cast. BUT a bloody strong one, as Mr Vallie declared at the press launch.

Casting news!

Its one of the best nights in the theatre i swear. Im not sure why people are so hostile to it on this site. Some were moaning that was replacing "Mary Poppins' yea!!!. so what do they expect? -Cameron to let 'Poppins' run forevr in an empty house.
