Jesus Christ Superstar screening canceled

I learned the hard way (driving 45 minutes both ways, even with my flu and fever) that both tonight AND November 1st's screenings of the Jesus Christ Superstar UK tour screenings were canceled, for "reasons beyond their control," according to Fathom Events.

No word yet on if they plan on rescheduling.

I also toughed it out and took a long drive to a screening, just to be told it was cancelled. Even confirmed that the movie theater was still open all night. (Not particularly close to the storm.) Rough. But of course, I'm just very grateful to have a cancelled screening be the worst of my problems this evening.

Tim Minchin tweeted that the cancellation is due to technical issues.

It was cancelled everywhere across the country right? Im really disappointed I was dying to see Tim Minchin in this. Why did they cancel? Does this hurricane affect the broadcast across the country? Or is there another reason?

Yes all screenings were cancelled.

I'm sure it was all over the country, since I'm in Miami, far from the storm, and its posted on the Fathom website, Facebook, and Twitter. Also, Melanie C announced the cancelations.

Canceled here in Western Canada too, so as others have said, I doubt it had to do with the storm.

According to the Cineplex website, the Toronto screening of JCS is not until December 6th.

Given the way Fantom's events work (HD streaming), they probably have the servers based in the Northeast and therefore had power/data line issues (I know my friends in the hurricane area have had significant broadband slowdowns). Add the fact that security requirements typically dicate holding off until the day-of to upload to any mirrors/take the files live, and it becomes even clearer.

Well, they better work out an alternate date, dammit. The one time I actually win something, from anywhere, and I can't use those passes on it!

I am so glad I didn't re do my plans to go see these. Sorry for everyone that did.
