Hello am new to the board but have been a watcher for a while.
I collect broadway Vinyls and have one for a musical called 'Jimmy' about the New York mayor Jimmy Walker and it is one of my favourite to listen to with lots of songs I enjoy a lot and even kazoo's!
I was just wondering if any one here knew any more details about it either maybe having seen the original production or are a fellow fan of the cast recording. It must have been a bad show to have fallen into obscurity.

Jimmy was THE FIRST show I ever walked out of. It was a total bore, although I have to admit that I left at inter' mission; as a result, I have no idea if it got any better in Act 2.
The only performers I remember are Frank Gorshin, who to me was terrible, and Julie Wilson, who was fine and even had a good song in the first act. I do not remember who played Betty Compton. Rather than be bored through the second act, we decided to walk around Rock Center and see the Christmas lights. We were with friends, who decided to stay; they thought it was 'okay'.
I should mention that we saw the show for free in great seats...it was being papered on Christmas week. I am pretty sure that it ran 80ish performances...could be off. I remember being surprised that it ran as long as it did because it was a real stinker.

Saw the show but don't remember anything about it. Got the cast album (on vinyl) for 98 cents. Played it once.
