Joanna Gleason leaving DRS

Does anyone know when Joanna Gleason is leaving DRS. I would love to get tickets in April but that is only if she is singing one my favorite Boradway songs, What was a Woman to do.

::smacks herself for responding to one of these 1,000 threads::

I believe Joanna is in the process of renegotiating her contract, which I think ends in January. If this is the case, I would assume she would at least be in April but I could be wrong. At this point, I'd lean toward yes she will be there but nothing is known at this point.

Actually I'm about to save the next part in my computer to respond w/ to all these threads b/c it applies to them all:

Regardless, I personally think you're missing out if you refuse to see the show w/o her. I adore Joanna but the song is still as wonderful in other hands, and the show itself is just great and a joy to see. Of course the cast contributes but I have seen very able understudies and for the most part they have not diminished my enjoyment in the show. I truly hope you'll consider getting tickets and experience this hilarious, wonderful show regardless of any specific cast member's appearance, as Jack O'Brien told all the actors constantly in rehearsal: They are not funny, the material is funny.

I would hope that a replacement in a show you apparently love enough to make the playbill your icon would not stop you from seeing that show...

It's amazing.

ah. may. zing.

Love it.

I hate when people get all high and mighty about these threads... chill out, answer the question or don't, and move on. There's no need to chastize them for asking a question.

Sometimes people buy tickets to a show they don't really have an interest in or have already seen because of a certain performer. It's nothing against understudies... sometimes a person just wants to go to see a favorite performer... and when it's someone as fabulous as Joanna, could you blame him?

I have seen the show before, but Joanna Gleason is my favorite part. I love this show and probably will see it if Jonathan Pryce takes, over but I have an issue seeing it with a second cast, because sometimes the second cast might deminish my thoughts of the outstanding obc.

High and mighty? All I said was if you're going to see the show just for her, see it anyway because it's really good.

Chill.

Sry Megan I was not really responding to you, I was just saying that sometimes I when I see the replacement cast of a show it's not as good as the orignal cast, and thats why I probably will be hesitant to see DRS once Joanna Leaves. Though I probably will see it now with Jonathan Pryce.

hahaha I wasn't responding to you either...my last comments were directed at "theactr."

Sorry!

re: Joanna Gleason leaving DRS

Ahh okay, if you've already seen the show and wanted to see Joanna, I take back my comments.

Theactr-it's a tad more than just what you talked about. Not even mentioning countless threads I've responded to w/ similar questions, if you read my post I wasn't being "high and mighty," rather very kindly personally expressing my love for a show and wish that he would wish to see it not only for her. Actually I think the constant threads on this have made me finally want to say is it the end of the world if you see an understudy? It's more just w/ the volume of these threads than any specific poster, and I start to get defensive about the show and understudies and such.

Anyway, at this point, anything that cannot be found very easily(such as John and Norbert's) extension, there's prob not news and no one would really be able to answer.

Joanna's standby is very good. I was depressed at first when I heard I wasn't going to be seeing her, but they sound very similar.

Same with Sara's standby.

Musical nerd, did you see Rachel de Benedict or Paula Legget Chase go on for Joanna? And I'm assuming you saw Julie Connor for Sara?

I saw both of them in early September, maybe that's when you went? Totally agree about Rachel, she's younger so brings a different aspect to the role but has a gorgeous voice and I enjoyed seeing her, though she's temporarily not w/ the show anymore. Julie was certainly adequate, but I did miss Sara seeing her...I mean, especially in a number like that, I suppose it's difficult to be dancing in the ensemble every night to suddenly become the lead dancer in the number.

re: Joanna Gleason leaving DRS

re: Joanna Gleason leaving DRS

Umm...you do realize we're talking about Sara Gettelfinger in DRS, not Sarah Ramirez in spamalot right? Just b/c it's kinda way OT if you knew that...but sorry, haven't seen her, heard other ppl really like her.

re: Joanna Gleason leaving DRS

Sara Ramirez's replacement is Lauren Kennedy, although I'm not sure what that has to do with DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS...

If you'd searched, there are about sixty-thousand threads about it.

re: Joanna Gleason leaving DRS

well, in a roundabout way, it does have to do with DRS..... KJennedy would have been much better suited to Christine Colgate in DRS than LotL in Spamalot

re: Joanna Gleason leaving DRS

I'd like to see Julia Murney as Christine.

I think Karen Ziemba would make a great Muriel.
