I would not say she walks through the role at all. Joanne has this very interesting acting style. She performs so...effortlessly. Its so natural for her. She's really a joy to watch. And she is great at comedic timing.

she does NOT walk through her role AT ALL. the times ive seen the show, sometimes shes the MOST on top of it out of the whole cast! (except maybe for norbert who has all this energy from god knows where, just, all the time) Joanna is full of energy and brings something new to it all the time. the one time i have seen someone walk through her role in this show was sherie. it was a tuesday night and i think she was tired, cause the next day i saw the wednesday matinee and she gave a wonderful performance. i think this is one of the most dynamic casts on the whole ive seen in a long time.

yay for joanna staying on, im glad. i look forward to seeing her again, and again

Okay, so we know these facts about comings and goings...

Johnathan Pyrce is replacing John Lithgow.
Norbert's staying until summer of next year.
Rachel York is replacing Sherie Rene Scott, but Sherie will be back.
Greg's staying until...well, next year.
Joanna renewed her contract.

Now, what's going to happen to Sara? Did she extend her contract?
What the puck?!

Greg and Norbert are both staying till this summer. I haven't heard a word about Sara but I couldn't possibly be happier about Joanna. She's absolutely wonderful in this part and I really was not looking forward to seeing someone else do it. BRAVO DRS!

Sara should stay right where she is, she's got the best job on Broadway:

Smile- 2 servings.
Sing- 2 seconds.
Sleep- The whole damn show.
Bow.
Rinse & Repeat.

Result: top billing and a fairly hefty paycheck.

Fantastic news! Love her!

I keep saying, I think the Muriel and Andre would have been completely a completely pointless diversion from the plot if Greg and Joanna weren't such fabulously funny, likeable performers. They were actually one of my favorite parts of DRS.

How come they don't tell you how long her contract is until? Is she just staying until whenever? Or is she going to stay with it until it closes (expecting it will close by the end of next year)?

She was the main reason I saw the show this past May. I love her. I could watch her in "Into the Woods" everyday for the rest of my life.

me too! I actually went to the show because of Joanna Gleason. People in line before the show were talking about how they couldn't wait to see John but me, I was all about Joanna! I was so excited that I actually started the entrance appluase for her!

I think Joanna is great in DRS and I don't mean to hate, but anything beyond her first two appearances in the show is pointless filler. The story could have flowed just as well without the rest of her appearances. That being said, I think her part is very funny and her scenes with Andre are great, but I just saw it as filler for the most part.

So glad Joanna is staying! I honestly doubt Sara will extend her contract- as much fun as the role is, who really wants to go on stage for a few minutes and then lay around and be bored for the rest of the show while everyone else gets to perform? I know a lot of people say that it's a fun, good role, but for someone as talented as Sara, it must suck to not get the chance to win a Tony or show that you can really carry a show. I believe that Sara could carry a show, and as much fun as Jolene is, I think that char needs to be left to more inexperienced actresses who are perhaps less talented than Sara is. Because, when you're an actress, the point of the business is to act- to perform as nuch as possible. Jolene does not give an actress like Sara to show off just how good she is. You really don't realize *how* good Sara is until you see Rachelle Rak or Julie Connors perform in the role. As much as I love them, they really let you see how amazing Sara is.

Who knows, she might extend, but I just have a lot of faith in her ability to do something wonderful with her career.
