Posted: 3/16/06 at 3:33amAfter seeing Lea DeLaria in MATTRESS, I ran out and bought the CD of the OBC (I have it on vinyl but no turntable). His performace in 'Man to Man Talk' is priceless, you can really hear the excitement in his voice as he figures out about the birds and the bees. I dug out my Playbill and realized I saw him in the original production of 42ND STREET in 1980 in a featured role (Bert Berry). He was also in the legendary stinker HOT SPOT with Judy Holliday (music by Mary Rodgers, lyrics by Martin Charnin).

Posted: 3/17/06 at 8:42amThis is very sad. The original cast recording of "Once Upon A Mattress" was one of my favorite CDs in high school. I loved his performance on it. It's hard to believe he was 81 and that the show was that long ago, but I guess time flies...

Posted: 3/17/06 at 9:30amI met him several times when he used to come to the dance studio where I worked. He used to come in to pick up his daughter from the children's dance program. He was very nice.

Saw him in THE MATCHMAKER with Dorothy Louden. Sadly, he really wasn't a good Vendergelder.
Still, he was marvelous in the original 42ND STREET.
