This is good news, John is great as Roger, saw him two weeks ago and Jai will be really funny. I loved him as Angel 3 years ago.

Any one else remmber that interview on playbill ( i think it was them) where Jai said he wanted to get wanted to get away from the sterotype of a gay man......... if i recall he said he was asked to play it before but turned it down because he doesn't want to be trapped in a sterotype...... well hell i mean he is the the sterotype

Umm, WickedGeek, I don't mean to be mean, but John is taking over as Max not Roger, but Jai is going to be Carmen.
Woah this is going to be pretty cool, another person from the movie is going to be in the show. I can't wait to see John as Max, my mom really wants to see John as Max.

John was playing Roger - I think he was saying that John is great at that role, so he's looking forward to seeing John as Max

JTE is a wonderful and zany Max, great news for the company and even greater news for the audience! Let's bring in an inspired choice for Leo Bloom and maybe the show will gain some MUCH needed magic back. I'm sorry but Hunter Foster is way too confident and powerful as Bloom, he's a solid performer but not a gifted and subtle clown.
Now regarding Jai, I'm not gonna say it's "yikescasting" yet.
He was very good in his early days as 'Angel' in RENT, during his recent return, not so much.

Does jai Rodriguez have comic timing, or even a real sense of humor? he never seemed very funny on queer eye. Genuine and sweet yes, but funny? Not so sure. Also what happens to brooks ashmakis (sp?). I pray he gets to take over Leo. hed be amazing.

Well, he didn't have to *act* on Queer Eye. I think he'll be good... I saw him as Angel before QE and honestly, he was fantastic.

I saw him as Angel long before QE or even Zanna, Dont't! and Jai was fantastic

Because, frankly, JTE doesn't look as good at Jai does in the enormous amount of lipstick and blush that he's wearing

BwayBaby18, you've got a good memory. When I interviewed Jai in August 2004, he said he'd been offered the role of Carmen Ghia, but he wasn't interested. However, 'The Producers' movie is coming out this December, and he plays Sabu in it, so I think it's a wise career move to maximize his visibility. The same thing goes for Gary Beach going back into 'The Producers.' I'll bet Jai makes an incredible Carmen Ghia. Good for him!

Interesting how Rodriquez turned down the offer to replace Hugh Jackman in TBFO because he didn't want to do any more "gay" roles, yet he's now playing Carmen Ghia...
