Joseph Tour Review!!!

So I just got home from seeing the current tour of Joseph that originally starred Amy Adams and Patrick Cassidy. It was good. That's it. good. The entire cast had phenomenal voices and did everything they could to make the show great but the direction was just... bizarre...

Adam Ryan Tackett made a good Joseph, perhaps a little young sounding but he really did some amazing vocal acrobatics. He was perhaps a little over-dramatic at times but this show isn't known for its subtlety.

Clarissa Grace was a perfect narrator. She looks just like the 'hot school teacher' that would be telling kids this story. She doesn't slip from head voice to belt voice and back as seamlessly as Amy Adams does on the recording but her belt was phenomenal... She was very Eden Espinosa in her Pharaoh Story (take that as you will).

The Male Ensemble (the brothers) were incredibly strong vocally but VERY literal when it came to acting out EVERY word of EVERY song.

The choreography was excellent. The sets were very neat and beautiful but totally shocking and weird at the same time.

I don't mean this in a bad way at all, but the production was just extremely GAY. I felt like Liza Minelli exploded all over the stage. The colors were, of course, totally technicolor. The dreamcoat in Act I was disgusting and looked like a baby blanket.

The worst part about the show was the stupid snaake in 'Journey to Egypt' and the fact that the Sphynx has sunglasses on.

Highlights were: Potiphar, Pharaoh Story, Song of the King, and Those Canaan Days.

at the end, there is something called the Joseph Megamix... I felt like the cast of Queer Eye was going to pull me out of my chair and Bedazzle my shirt while it was on me. But it was totally FABULOUS too... so one can't complain.

Overall I give it a 6.5 out of 10 for a tour...

If the production was merely "good", why did you title the thread with triple exclamation points? You led me to believe that this was going to be an exemplary production.

Once again, look at www.troika.com for your non-eq touring needs, there is a photo up of the current company. Having seen the show "IN PREVIEWS" I can safely Adam Tackett is hotter than Patrick Cassidy!

First of all, I hate the implication that "moderately attractive" teacher could not be telling a biblical story. "The word of the Lord is the word of the people"

Next, I was blown on the floor by Adam Ryan Tackett's performance as Joseph and for the record does not hold a candle to a Patrick Casidy. One word for Mr. O'Brien's portrayal of Pharaoh and that is HHHHOOOOOOTTTTTTTT! The suprising performer and personality came in Clarissa Grace. We waited for her after the show and chatted and upon my friends request she sang Happy Birthday to him, COULD YOU DIE!!! This is not an elementary school teacher, this is your high school French Teacher.

Paris Lover, why didnt you mention the camel or swaying cactuss they are fantastic! Also, the "Joseph Megamix" has been around since the 1995 Broadway Production. Also, the Sphinx head has always had sunglasses in almost every production!

This tour is really fantastic and I look forward to seeing it again next week in Memphis, with family look for more reviews! MWAH and Any Dream Will Do!

As someone who went to school with Adam Tackett (Joseph), I can speak highly of his talents, and know he is an excellent Joseph. He would be thrilled to hear your kind words.

I saw that, and had nightmares for a month. I like the trick where lights reflect of the robe's sequins.

saw it in San Diego, Amy was not on that day, and whoever was, sucked. Patricks kids should not have been in that choir....they sucked......He was good, and his chest even better.
All in all I was a bit let down

I thought this tour was one of the worst shows I've ever seen when I saw it in Philly.

Amy Adams' vocals were far and above the best thing of the production and there were still only above average.

EVERYTHING was overdone. Acting, direction, set, choreography, costumes - everything was just wildly excessive, loud, and annoying. even Patrick Cassidy's body was a bit much for me.

I saw Adam Tackett as Skimbleshanks in Cats!!! That would have been 2 1/2 years ago now. Interesting that he reappeared in this show....

I saw this on October 7th. LOVED IT! Adam Tackett was a GREAT Joseph and he is going places, no doubt Clairissa was prefectly cast as the narrator and certainly does have a FINE voice. The sets, performances and pure excited energy the cast and show exhuded made for a wonderful evening

You know all of you are complaining that everything was too campy, and too over the top. I hate to tell you that the entire show is over the top. I have done the show five times now, and am currently playing piano for a production. THe show can be interpretted in so many different ways. That is what makes the show unique. THis is just the directors interpretation. It's Joseph for god's sake....
