Joseph nicks the Chicago Set!

Looking at the pics from the photo coverage on here from the new London production of Joseph, they seem to have knicked the set from Chicago.

Are they that hard up that they couldnt build a new one?

re: Joseph nicks the Chicago Set!

You've got that backwards. That appears to be the same set design from the early 1990's version of Joseph, which pre-dated Chicago by about five years.

Really!!

Thanks for that Fosse. I havent seen the show live since the 80's

Well then Walter Bobbie and company should be ashamed of themselves

Hey, its still worth mocking. Its basically the DVD without all that extra Mormon.
I have several names, one is Julian2. I am also The Opps Girl. But cross me, and I become Bitch Dooku!

...? The Chicago set is meant to be a jury box that holds the orchestra...

Joseph doesn't need a judge box, so why would Walter Bobbie take an idea from Joseph in the first place...?

Paulyd, the sets are the same, but no one stole anything, its acompletely different concept.

re: Joseph nicks the Chicago Set!

These pictures remind me of seeing the show (with Donny Osmond, and my first professional show seen). It'd be kind of cool if it came to the US again.

Actually, they are probably using the set design from the last revival of Joseph that preceded the Chicago revival.

The Jury box design from Chicago looks exactly like one of the sets from Joseph, down to the shape and colour tone.

And the same costumes! LAME! It looks like a bunch of laziness to me.

bwaylvsong, did you bitch about the lack of set for Company?

re: Joseph nicks the Chicago Set!

Unfortunately, I didn't get to see Company. However, I didn't bitch about the lack of set for Sweeney, because I felt it worked well without it. Chicago, on the other hand, should give the audience the advertised "Razzle Dazzle" they pay for and expect a show like that to have.

I thought the Chicago set worked brillantly.

And Joseph just oozes cheese to me. I hate that show.
