Why isn't Josh Young on Broadway and why isn't he playing Tony in the WSS revival?
Have you heard his solo cd...its amazing.

I wonder the same thing. He was absolutely brillant in A Little Night Music in Baltimore earlier this year, and he is just as fantastic in Les Miz at Walnut Street right now.

I do happen to know that he will be in Walnut Steeet's Hairspray later this year, and possibly ACE at the Signature Theater in Virginia.

I think he is a very talented performer as well. I think he just may be limited in the roles he can play right now. he has that british mega musical voice that is perfect for les miz etc. there just arent that many shows like that anymore. and a buddy of mine is a casting agent who says that he liked josh at an audition, but for a romantic lead, he is way too short (i think the guy is like 5'6.) Sad to say, but true. My friend also told me that the word on the street is that he can be a bit of a diva at times. who knows.

I loved Josh as Marius when I saw Les Miz on opening night. With a few exceptions, I've never really liked or disliked Marius, but Josh was terrific. Endearing portrayal and his voice is lovely.

I know he's doing "Hairspray" at the Walnut next season and a friend and I are already planning on a road-trip to see him.

I literally just got his CD and haven't had a chance to listen yet.

He does have a great voice, but I think the one thing missing from his CD is any sort of emotion or connection to the material. He sings the songs beautifully, but I don't feel like he's acting the songs as much? If that makes sense.

I also was a big fan of him as Marius in Les Mis as well!

And as for the WSS revival, I just browsing his website and saw that he had a blog and read some excerpts and it looks like his time with the International tour of WSS wasn't all fun & games :o! He said he had ups & downs with it! Perhaps that's why. Who knows...he'll make it some day I'm sure!

I totally agree with you RENTBOY. There is a major lack of emotion. I liked that he did MARIA, but did not love it and therefore feel that (for that recording alone) will not be right for Tony.

November 4-January 4 he'll be playing Link Larkin so he wouldn't be able to play Tony?
WSS starts out of town starting Dec 17th so the timing wouldn't match, unless they make switches anyway.

He plays Marius pretty effectively and I think the majority of his reviews were positive. His "empty chairs" was pretty strong, IMO, and I've seen the show on several occasions because I was kind of part of the show, so yeah. *spoiler?* And for once I actually felt like Marius was sad that Eponine dies. *end spoiler* I haven't seen too many productions of Les Mis though, but like the rest of the broadway community and apparently the world... I know the show haha.

Yea, I've met Josh several times. I became like a die hard fan after seeing him play Henrik in Night Music. However... I also don't LOVE his CD.. It's not really a good representation of how good he is... perhaps that's because he's gotten better over the past 3 years, but live, he is just incredible. His video on youtube of "Later" is a good example. As for him being short.. I'm 5'6" he's for sure a good 2 or 3 inches taller... still kinda short I guess but he's about the same height as like Brian D'arcy James or Norbert... my two other loves... but yea, I think too short for Tony in WSS. He's always very nice to me and returns emails .. in person he seems a bit shy, but always polite. I hope he gets some more notice soon! I'm seeing the final show of Les Miz at Walnut on the 3rd!! wooohooooooo
