I love them both. They both have very different styles. I've known i've been a fan of Michael's longer, but I have been a fan of Josh's for a while too, i just didnt know his name...but yeah i liek them both.

Josh Young's version is not good. There is a complete lack of any interpretive skills on his part. It's just random, directionless emotion. Not to mention it sounds like the song is an exercise in dialect experimentation.
"Goodness is rewarded. Hope is guaranteed. Laughter builds strong bones. Right will intercede. Things you've said I often find I need, indeed. I see the world through your eyes. What's black and white is colorized. The knowledge you most dearly prized I'm eager to employ. You said that life has infinite joys."

He also has the song, Flight, that I'm so used to hearing Daniel Torres(www.danieltorres.net) do. It's so weird, yet amazing, to hear someone else's version. If it's an amazing song, I'm always open to hearing people sing it.

His Run Away With Me is gorgeous ... I do love Michael, but Josh's version is wonderful, too.

Oh definitely Michael's verions. But I do really enjoy the orchestration in Josh's. Michael's just feels so much more honest, plus I get chills every single time I listen to it.

I agree, InfiniteTheatreFrenzy, Michael does = LIFE!

Like almostxfamous, I was used to Daniel's version of Flight. Josh's is sooo different--it's a lot slower, but I absolutely love the strings in the arrangement. (Props to Brian Lowdermilk on arranging the song.) Now I'm used to both versions and like them equally.

I still say you can't compare the two. But I see what you're saying. If I wanted like a cast album I would go for Michael's but if I just wanted to listen to a gorgeous song and voice I'd go for Josh any day. I could listen to his for hours on end. I thought it was supposed to be a pop song when I first heard it on myspace, then I read about it here and heard Michael's version. Hey, any of you who have the cd..what is "Even The Pain" the only song I've never heard of on it.

stop comparing
a great song deserves many interpretations
ARDEN needs a solo album so bad
can't wait to hear him make Magic
of Bob Dylan's wonderful songs
Maybe when he gets
back to NYC he can concentrate on recording

I saw Josh Young sing this live, and the emotion was incredible...he had an extremely powerful voice to boot and made the whole song very moving.

Of course, I'm a huge Michael Arden fan as well, and his version is the one that made it to my iPod...but I think both do a great job.
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

On the high note (I forget what it is and don't have the recording on my iPod with me, I think it MAY be a b-flat?) and overall, Michael is a bit more forcably nasal, while Josh seems to have these notes more naturally. The only weird thing about that is that on the high "..say the word 'cuz I'm already theeeeeere!", Michael (albeit nasal) has a wonderful vibrato and freedom, whereas Josh's is more a straight-toned belt, showing a bit less polish and skill than Michael, in my opinion...
