anyone know how high the stage is at the Joyce, and/or how good the view is from the first three rows? there's a production i want to see this Fall -- Row C is $19 and Row D is $49 ... but since it's a dance performance it doesn't make sense to try to save money only to miss half the production.

thx!

I've only seen one production at The Joyce..The Umbilical Brothers. Granted it wasn't a dance piece, but we had seats in row G center and they were great. I'd recommend anything past the first 5 or 6 rows because those first rows are below the stage view, you're basically looking UP towards anyone on stage at a severe angle. Plus you miss any lighting effects that may be happening on the floor.

My thought is if you want to see EVERYTHING, skip the cheaper seats and go back a bit. It's not a vastly deep house, so even when you're towards the back it's a great view.

If you're on a budget those first three rows are an absolute steal. Go for it!

I've sat all over the Joyce and the only seats I would avoid are the SUPER far right and left in the first row.

I've sat 2nd and 3rd row in the center orchestra more than once and it was absolutely thrilling. Anything lost in perspective is made up for in intimacy and proximity to the amazing bodies doing what they do best.

Even Momix and Pilobolus which are ultra heavy on broad visual effects were just as wonderful from the front as when I saw them from the rear of the house.
