Judith Ivey will direct the Junkyard Dogs Productions commerical NYC staging of Jack Heifner and David Kirshenbaum's Vanities: the Musical.

It's expected to appear in the 2007-2008 season.

I'm assuming off-Broadway.

It's been a while, but I love that play. A musicalization should be interesting. I saw a production taped for HBO years ago with Annette O'Toole, Meredith Baxter, and Shelley Hack. O'Toole gave a brilliant performance, aging in each act flawlessly, keeping the core of the character, but letting her mature in a natural and believable way.
Can't wait to see what they've done with it musically.
