Definitely agree! Why go hear someone else perform songs by some famous artist that you can hear on the radio any day of the week?
I most definitely have issues with my word choices on this board.

Umm, no thanks....
And thank you White Rabbit....
Lennon - which I think will be like BFO...
Good Vibrations
Mamma Mia
All Shook Up
Movin' Out
What else?

All I know about Lennon is that different people, of different races and sex, will be playing Lennon, so no, it won't be like BFO. It is, however, a jukebox musical.
Not Broadway, but We Will Rock You is another.

Oh,
I mean just that it's gonna be about his life....
But in a different "artistic" way....

I don't consider Movin' Out a jukebox musical.

I'm pretty sure 'Movin' Out' is what would be considered a "jukebox musical". It is using old pop/rock songs for the music. I personally enjoy some of the jukebox musicals, like 'Movin' Out' and 'Mamma Mia'

One other is Rod Stewart's "Tonight's the Night" which was wonderful. I have to say that I'm not a huge fan of jukebox musicals and even though this was cheesy...his music is wonderful!

It's not a matter of opinion...Movin' Out is, by the definition of a jukebox musical, a JUKEBOX MUSICAL...

Movin' Out...and I can consider it whatever I want.

I see Movin out to be more of a ballet type thing then a musical. But it still fits under the "jukebox" standards since its all Billy Joel music..

Movin' Out is a jukebox musical, whether someone thinks it is or not. I have to agree with BSoBW2, that it is by definition a jukebox musical. I personally don't see what makes it oh so special though. I saw it pre-broadway in Chicago and it really wasn't anything special, at least to me.
I most definitely have issues with my word choices on this board.

I;d rather pay to hear Billy Joel sing his songs...well, I wouldn't pay for that anyway...

It's kinda fun to hear some old favorites in a new light. It is also pretty cool that a younger audience might be exposed to some great classic music.

If I wanted to be exposed to some great classic music by Billy Joel, I'd really want to go to a Billy Joel concert. Why see some random Broadway actors sing Billy Joel when you can see Billy Joel sing Billy Joel. There's a sort of "magic" when a song writer sings his/her own song cause it is their words and music.
I most definitely have issues with my word choices on this board.

i dont mind em ... though movin out wasnt my cup of tea. i thought of it more like a glorified music video. ya know, where the action usually relates to the song but youre not (always) watchin the one whose doin the singing.

That may work for Billy Joel but it sure as hell doesn't work for Elvis.

What was that headline from Variety that came and went a minute ago? QUEEN MUSICAL TOUR DAMNED? Does this mean the hideous "We Will Rock You" has been derailed?
