I was listing to some solngs sung by Julia Murney just now and I was curious about something. While listing it seemed to me thhat her voice could go pretty high. I am wondering, Is she classifide sp? as a soprano. I may be wrong ( and probally am) but it seems that her voice is able to go pretty high.
So in short, is Julia Murney a soprano?

Hm, I'm not sure on that one.
But it's "classified" for future reference.

I'm not sure what she's officially considered, but I know the woman has an INCREDIBLE range. She does a lot of stuff in the soprano range, but then she can completely turn around and BLOW YOU AWAY with some really low songs (i.e. a lot of stuff on her solo album).
I think her insane range is one of the things that make her such an amazing performer. She has very little limits.

One's fach is about more than just how high one can sing, it's about tessitura and timbre. In opera most mezzo sopranos can sing up to C6 or so, but they're still considered mezzos because they are more comfortable with lower notes, and they have a darker, heavier voice.
It also depends on one's passagio: typically the soprano break into upper register lies around F5 or so, whereas an alto or mezzo has a lower one.
