Can someone explain Julianne's appeal to star as Sandy?
IMOP, she's a boring actress and looks too old and mature to play Sandy even though she's 27 and will be 28 in July...so many better choices out there and what's with Vanessa and all these musicals roles GIGI and now Rizzo all of a sudden? She's so not a Rizzo from what I have seen of her...thoughts?

They auditioned and were the best for the parts? Vanessa has gotten pretty good notices from her performance in Gigi. Don't knock her just yet.

I get Vanessa way more than Julianne. She's proven to be a capable actress in indie films, and a good enough singer for a part famously played by non-singers.

Also, I kind of love how the Teen Angel has become a cameo place for actual singers of the era. Johnny Mathis would be an interesting choice- I didn't realize he was still alive, but the man sure could sing!

I was interested to see Billy Magnussen rumored for Danny Zuko. Personally I would have made Chris Pine Danny, and had Magnussen play Kenicke.

I think Julianne can pull it off! She reminds me a lot of Olivia Newton John.

Vanessa as Rizzo I can't see. She's more of a Sandy to me. Demi Lovato would have been a decent choice as Rizzo (even though I personally don't care for her).
