Julianne Moore coming to Broadway

"Julianne Moore has been set to star in "The Vertical Hour," a David Hare play to be directed by Sam Mendes that will premiere on Broadway Nov. 30."

WOW. Anyone else excited about this?!?! I love all three of these artists and am ecstatic that they are working together!

re: Julianne Moore coming to Broadway

"The Vertical Hour" marks Moore's first stage starring performance in New York since 1992's "Vanya on 42nd Street."

-was this not on Broadway?

"Vanya on 42 St" is a film. It is about the making/performing a revival of Chekhov's "Uncle Vanya."

re: Julianne Moore coming to Broadway

I'm pretty sure this is Julianne Moore's Broadway debut, and even though I can't find any theatre credits for her, I always assumed she had worked Off Broadway early in her career. But then - perhaps she just gives off that NY stage actress vibe.

This is her Broadway debut. Off-Broadway, she starred in SERIOUS MONEY and ICE CREAM WITH HOT FUDGE (both by Caryl Churchill and both at the Public) as a young actress.

In an interview a while back, she said she would love to do Broadway when her children were a bit older and the right project came along. Very excited for this.

They come roosting to the stage boards! First Julia Roberts this season. Now Julianne Moore! Very intrigued!

Ok, I'm much more excited that Sam Mendes is directing a show. Jullianne Moore is just a great bonus.

This is exciting.

re: Julianne Moore coming to Broadway

This is thrilling! Julianne Moore has been underused in the film industry ever since her brilliant performances in THE HOURS and ALMOST HEAVEN. Hopefully she will enjoy being back on stage and stay around here for a while.

She is amazingly talented and very beautiful. It would be great to see her on the stage. Does she sing? I think Far From Heaven would make a beautiful musical. Can't think of a better lead.

re: Julianne Moore coming to Broadway

OH. MY. GOD.

I WILL see this show, it's become my #1 priority of shows to see this year. For those of you who follow my posts, I ADORE Julianne Moore. She is my #1 favorite actress. When I went to Playbill.com a few minutes ago and saw this as the first news article I thought I was dreaming. She had said in the past that she wouldn't do theatre because it is so time consuming and she wants to spend time with her family but I am SO glad she has reconsidered! Can't wait to see her onstage!

The Playbill article says nothing of a limited run...is the show set to be open ended?
