Just a Housewife

Does anyone else think that this song is one of the best ever written? I listened to Lisa Asher do it on her CD at Tower today and once again, my eyes filled with tears and I found myself so engrossed in the wonderful arrangement and the total truth of the lyrics...
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

A thread usually pops about this song every now and then.

An amazing and touching song. The first time I heard it, it really stuck with me, and I HAD to hear it again.

I love this song! Beth Howland does a great version of it on the TV version of the show.

BWAYBELTER-

It's from the musical Working.

I curse that terrible musical! Ack!

It's a pretty song, however.

Wonderful song redhot :)
One of Schwartz's best IMO.

But I won't live alone in a house of regret.

re: Just a Housewife

It is a wonderful song, but it's not by Stephen Schwartz. It's by the extraordinary and underrated Craig Carnelia.

Amen... Craig "Sweet Smell of Success" Carnelia.

I'm a sucker for "Fathers & Sons", also from "Working" ... but "Just a Housewife" is truly a classic.

Yeah, I love Working.

Even it's lighter songs are really fun, "Brother Trucker" for example.

"Millwork" and "The Mason" are two other fantastic songs.

I've edited my original message...Could've sworn that was one of Schwartz's numbers; guess not.

re: Just a Housewife

I don't think Working particularly works as a SHOW, and that TV special is hokey at best, but there are some GREAT songs:

Millwork (one of my favorite songs)
Brother Trucker
Just a Housewife
It's an Art
Cleaning Women
Nobody Tells Me How (but that's because I am a teacher, and I know people who could sing this song completely truthfully)
Fathers and Sons

While it's not a great SONG - "Joe" is a GREAT character study piece.
