Im seeing Gypsy in a few weeks so I cant comment, but I cant wait to see it. Im curious though, if so many people think that the coat, and the lamb are so horrible does anyone know if these have been bones of contention within the cast and design people. I would think that Ms. Lupone would say something and be heard if she hated the coat so much. I would think that Ms. Benanti would speak up if this lamb thing is so horrible. Perhaps shes allergic to a real lamb. Just curious if there is some known back story about this "horrible" lamb, and "ugly " coat.

The lamb was discussed a little while back. I've accepted that there will never be a real lamb, and that they'll always have someone walking the lamb around...grrr!!
ALSO!!! If anyone else was there last night, something happened with the little boys during the Uncle Sam number, right before the strobe light transformation when they become older. Any clue?!

Posted: 3/13/08 at 11:45amOh, I wanted to add one of the things I think is BRILLIANT about this production, is that they've always had the Farmboy who is a bit clumsy, but now they have the Newsboy who trips right before the beginning of the number. Brilliant.

when i saw it on monday Laura was totally a doll...
i told her a story about how i saw the show at CC when her dress zipper broke and she held it the whole number... she smiled and was sooooo sweet!
Also, I will second that Larkin is fabulous!!!!!
I cant wait to be in the city permanently in may so that i can go see it often.... we should have a group of people that goes to every saturday matinee - since Rytoast wont be able to go during the week

RyToast... I must confess that I'm not familiar with the role that a "lamb" plays on "Gypsy". I'll find out soon enough. Meanwhile, I'll always have fond memories of "this" particular lamb... with the wonderful Shari Lewis. from R.C. in Austin, Texas P.S. The lamb puppet's name is "Lamb Chop".

I liked the way they had the city names which I belive is the same way it was on the Bernadette's show.

Posted: 3/13/08 at 5:27pmI like that!! Especially since they use the cards on the side of stage anyways, but I think having someone come out to switch the sign would be distracting during the strip sequence.

They cut the Entr'acte...the "If Mama Was Married" portion of it is no more.
Patti has a new bow - it's pretty cool looking. The Rose sign comes downs, there's tons of lights - pink, purple and white - and instead of the *bum bum* that used to play, the music for Everything's Coming Up Roses plays.
Great show tonight; the audience was really into it. Miss Patti was coughing here and there - she definitely held back vocally during Mr. Goldstone - but she still sounded amazing. 'Some People' was fabulous. Rose's Turn got the longest ovation I've seen it get - and damn, was it well deserved.

Posted: 3/15/08 at 12:34amHA HA! OMG! I almost fell out of my chair when she asked if you'd been e-mailing! My name's Ryan too and we've e-mailed back and forth a few times - mostly in the last couple of weeks! Maybe she thought you were me!

I agree Re: the new bow and tonight's standing ovation after Rose's turn. Totally cool.
And Rose has some new stage business in "Farmboys" after she drops the chicken off for the second time. FUN.
What I found AMAZING tonight (we were second row orch on the side for the second act) was the reaction scene between Boyd and Laura during the "My daughter can do it" scene. Amazing.
