Just saw "Doubt"

So last night I attended a screening of Doubt. All I have to saw is wow. This was a fantastic film. I never saw the broadway production, however I did see a local production performed at the unversity of Nevada Las Vegas, and I thought that was incredible. Shanley did a terrific job at expanding scenes for a larger cast. Father Flynn's gym speech I found more effective in the film, especially to see the kid's reactions. Meryl Streep is as always fantastic, she does kinda of over due it with the expressions, but I didn't care, it worked. Phillip Seymour Hoffman was another one who is of course, brilliant in everything he does and there is no exception here. Amy Adams is very good as Sister James. I felt in the film her character was given some more depth, that may be due to some added scenes with her and her class. Viola Davis is a revelation. It's great to see an actress of her calibar finally getting the chance to show here amazing talents to a wider audience.

My only issue with the film was how some of the cinematography was handeled. Didn't really understand the angular shots, nor the thunderstorm during the confrontation.

But those are minor. This is a must see for any theater fan or movie fan.

Not "of course". He is often good, sometimes great, occasionally miscast, and in a few cases, utterly unconvincing.

So Mister Matt, the OP has stated an opinion as if it were fact, and to set her/him straight, you give your opinion stated as if it were a fact. OK, I see how that works.

re: Just saw 'Doubt'

i read an interview with Streep that it might pose controversy. I was raised a Catholic, was an altar boy and such , that film if anything showed me the compassion of the Church. Something that is rarely shown in society. I will take more time than I usually do to remember what Christmas is about. :)

You didn't understand the thunderstorm during the confrontation...? As far as symbolism goes, it can't get less subtle than that.

Streep, Davis (small but great part), Hoffman. Amy was ok, a lot of young actresses could go through with that part with ease i think.
