As much as I love Andrea Burns, and her performance as Daniela in IN THE HEIGHTS, I was looking forward to going back to see Justina Machado during Andrea's leave. She was announced to perform for two months until August 23rd. Did she leave early? She's not on the show's website, and posters have written that she completed her run at the end of July.
What happened? Who's performing as Daniela now, and when is Andrea expected to return?

I asked this question a couple of weeks ago and no one seemed to have an answer as to what happened to Justina. She has a show on this fall that she may have had to return to early.
Doreen was playing the role for a while, but I don't know who is doing it now.
Janet Decal's facebook has a picture of her and Andrea and the status reads: "wants her back already!"

Posted: 8/14/09 at 5:35pmI saw it on Wednesday and Blanca was on.She was greta but not as good as Andrea. Andrea is still the best by far in my opinion. I also saw Justine.

Posted: 8/14/09 at 10:26pmHer last performance was on 7/26. I've seen everyone who's played Daniela and Justina probably ties with Andrea Burns as my favorite. I was sorry to see her go.

I saw Justina, too. She was very different from Andrea, but in no way a let down. Enjoyed them both equally for different reasons.
I saw Doreen as Abuela, and she was great. If she is on for Daniella, you won't be disappointed.

Posted: 8/15/09 at 12:05amI saw the show in July, and after the bows Justina stood in front of the line, and the all clapped for her alone. She was crying, so I assumed it was either her first or last show.

No clue why she ended up leaving so early, performing for so short a time? I love Doreen Montalvo's voice, am less familiar with Blanca Camacho having seen her in only less conspicuous ensemble roles, but feel reluctant to see IN THE HEIGHTS now, at least until Andrea Burns is back.
I guess I think her performance is key.
