So with the the National Tour of Annie stopping in this month. Will this Theatre host anymore National Tour productions for us New Yorkers? Seems like a cool idea.

The most grand and beautiful theatre I have ever been in. Even as kids when we went to the movies, we knew it was a special place. I have not been in there since the restoration, but I look forward to seeing what 65 million dollars look like.

Old Loews Valencia - Jamaica - Now a church
Old Loews Paradise - Grand Concourse Bronx - Not sure here as it was renovated & being used for shows but it may have closed. Italian Atmospheric gem
Old Loews Jersey - Journal Square Path Station Jersey City- Shows classic movies in a classic setting . Across the street is the old RKO Stanley a 4,000 seat gem that is now a Jehovahs Witness church - Open for tours.
There used to be a basketball court underneath the orchestra. When the theater first opened in the late 1920's it and other theaters had ushers (remember them along with the matrons that looked like Herman Goering in drag) and the ushers of one theater played the ushers of a nearby theater to relax while the movie was being shown above them. Wonder what happened to that & if it is in some use today or just closed.
Brooklyn Paramount - May be closed for renovation like the Kings . Was 4000 plus seats and when it closed it was used for quite sometime as a basketball court for Long island University.

Love these old theatres Roxy!
I went to the Diana Ross concert at the Kings and went extra early to wander around. Its stunning. Sadly, its very difficult to get there and quite the walk from the nearest subway. Here's hoping they clean up the area a bit. They do have some great concerts and events!

On both side walls, there used to be tall paintings of French noblemen . Now they are blank walls covered by curtains. They were lost due to massive water damage over the years . It was probably cost prohibitive to recreate them.
It is nothing short of a miracle to bring it back to what it is now after bring left to rot to the elements & vandals for almost 40 years. This was a bigger job than the New Amsterdam.
Kudos to the restoration team.
