I assume you’ve never seen this 1990s ALW production. All the actresses played it like this.

Now that's how you do Norma w/ star quality not like that Karen person did! Yes,I was in college when I saw SSB w/ Glenn!

Betty Buckley played it differently, but, since Karen Mason was Glenn's standby, I'm guessing their performances were purposely similar. I saw her twice, and I thought she was excellent.

Karen appears to have gone on for Betty for this performance, because the projection looks like Betty's-I recognize the smile.

That could be the case. Even so, she retained elements of Glenn's characterization. I saw her the first time during the Glenn's oft-publicized vacation, and then at some point after Glenn left, and I don't remember any noticeable difference.
