Karen Murphy as Madame Armfeldt?

Posted: 8/30/10 at 5:22pmI saw her during Lansbury's vacation back in... April? I believe. I thought Karen Murphy was fine, but then again I hadn't seen Lansbury yet and it was my first exposure to the show and character so I didn't really have anything/anyone else to compare it to and I wasn't that knowledgeable on the show and character. She didn't really have that big of an impact on me.

Posted: 8/30/10 at 5:56pmShe's a swing, and has gone on a few times for one of the Liebs. I saw her once in that track, and she looked ridiculously out of place (wearing a costume in act 2 that resembled a lab coat).

I also saw her in one of the ensemble tracks, and although she wasn't bad, she just appeared too old to be in the group.

Posted: 8/30/10 at 6:57pmOne of the times I saw the show Betsy Morgan called out of the 2nd act and she was on in the ensemble in her track...I wasn't really that impressed. She seemed out of place with all the other fairly young ensemble members (Erin Stewart was on that day for Jayne Paterson as well). Also that "lab coat" costume is the same thing Betsy Morgan wears in the 2nd act, or something very close, but it looked odd and matronly on Karen Murphy.

Yeah, I should have been more clear- Morgan wears the same outfit, but it looks much different on Murphy. As you said, it looks positively matronly on her. She definitely stands out among the much younger members of the ensemble.
