I know she is not a "dancer" and says she is more of a "mover," but, my God - her musicality in this number, working that dress - it's masterful. Such a standout. So feminine and commanding. At times, her hair seems ten inches from the stage. Not a technician, but what a testament to spirit. A joy to watch!
She's definitely a mover and she possesses musicality and she nails that "dumbed down" choreography but she's no Rita or Chita or Debbie who all performed the role with the original, more intricate choreography by Peter Gennaro.
She received an endless amount of slack on this board for not being a great dancer, but she was sensational in the role, and rightfully won the Tony.
ljay889, I agree that dramatically she was a force to be reckoned with and her Tony win was very much deserved. She is the only actress to have played that role to win a Tony and of course Ms. Moreno won an Oscar for the film.

Wow. I'll leave you with this:
Be good to people.
Even the shitty ones.
Let the assholes be assholes.
You'll sleep better.
"the more you know..."
cue: "shooting star".
Her Anita was everything it needed to be. She may not be a dancer, but she moves with a purpose which is what I expect and respect more than technical accuracy. She acted through movement, song, and dialogue, and in doing so, gave the production a sense of urgency and intensity that Laurents couldn't capture with any of the other actors in that revival. I was thrilled when she won the Tony and will always cherish having seen her in this and IN THE HEIGHTS (for which she should have been nominated). Oh, how wonderful would it be if she ever appeared on HAMILTON.
