I loved, loved, LOVED her version of Sense and Sensibility. I thought Vanity Fair was less successful, but I'm looking forward to Pride and Prejudice. I wanted to point out that it's playing now in a co-production with Second Stage (sorry, it's Primary Stages, I made a mistake) as part of the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival. I'm thinking the production will be beautiful staged in Boscobel House and Gardens (I guess in a tent). Just posting this for those who can make it up there. I'm sure it would be a lovely day trip on Metro North or a nice drive. There's even a round-trip bus from Lincoln Center on some Saturdays! Tickets seem to be selling fast, so if you're interested, snap them up now!

I'll have to wait for the Second Stages production later this year. But if anyone gets there, please post back!

I didn't get a chance to see Sense and Sensibility. While I enjoyed Vanity Fair, I agree it wasn't entirely successful, going for a lot of cheap laughs and racing through the plot. To make up for the lack of direction with narration and 4th wall breaking felt a bit awkward. You're led to feel a certain way about the characters because of the writing. Having them address the audience and rant that you should feel differently doesn't earn that indictment or emotional shift. And I don't think that particular novel was meant to convey the messages Hamill wanted to map onto it.
Have they announced Pride and Prejudice for Second Stage?
Sorry, it's Primary Stages. I'll correct my original post. The date given on the website is November-December.

Pride & Prejudice is under the tent! Check hvshakespeare.org for train and shuttle Or bus transportation from Lincoln Center on certain days. If you want to have a house/garden tour, call Boscobel directly to arrange it. Spend the day in Cold Spring it's a gorgeous little hamlet on the Hudson and there is so much to see!
^^^^ I agree with all of this. Cold Spring is a great day trip. I'm actually taking Metro North up tomorrow to see the show, and I'll post my comments. Did anyone here manage to see it already?
