or movie musical star?
She just sang and tap danced on Saturday Night Live and wasn't half bad.
Sign her up!!
Kate will be playing the role of Tula in the upcoming movie musical Romance and Cigarettes directed by John Turturro, starring James Gandolfini and Susan Sarandon.
I would love to see her do Broadway. Kate is fabulous.
I would love to see her in a new and uncensored version of "Debbie does dallas".

Why a musical? She's a fine actress- stick her in a play.

Why NOT a musical? If she can both sing and act, why hold her back by putting her in a non-singing role?

Pah, that came out wrong. But I don't see being in a play as a limitation. Why do people automatically assume being on Broadway means being in a musical?
Calling Kate a singer after what she displayed on SNL would be wrong. She "carried a tune"..hardly sang. She could do Sally in the new Cabaret.
But those pull backs and wings..who knew!

kate winslet clearly isn't a broadway singer after watching snl last night. Maybe if we're lucky she'll be dubbed like minnie driver in the movie she's doing. She should just stick to acting.
what did she sing?
I would kill to see her as Sally in Cabaret. I think she could do Broadway if the right show came along. And when it comes down to it, she couldn't possibly be worse than Melanie. . .
im looking foward to seeing her and johnny depp in Return to Neverland.
Don't even get me started on him. . .
he is yummy!
She would need SO much vocal coaching if she was going to carry a lead role in a musical 8 times a week. I would love to see her on stage too. She was, as I mentioned before, considered for Proof when it was in London, but that didn't work out.

I actually think Kate Winslet would make a great Violet in "Violet". She is a great actress and that role wouldn't require her to have too much vocal training.
she was in a version of christmas carol a few years ago and sang a song on the soundtrack- called 'what if'. if you listen to this you'll know that she does actually have a legitimate voice.
Move over Brooke.....

She's no Hugh Jackman.

Legitamate, yes. Powerful, no.
I liked her little opening song and dance. Not a great voice, but she danced well, we know she can act, she's looking pretty good, and, despite the boring roles I've seen her in, she demonstrated that she can have a little thing called charisma....

I'm telling you guys, we'll be seeing Kate in either the film version of "Sweeney," all caked-up with aging makeup to play Lovett, or, if Sam Mendes ever decides to bring it to film, she'll be Sally in his "Cabaret"
