How is she? Will she pose for photos or sign autographs?

There is already a thread about this: She will sign autographs. You can take a photo of her, but she doesn't take photos with people.

Why wont she pose for pictures with fans?

I found her very gracious and kind at the stage door. Bill Irwin is great, too -- he will get into serious discussions of the play with fans who ask intelligent questions.

Because there is probably a HUGE crowd waiting for her and if she takes a picture with one person, she will have to take an individual picture with everyone. That takes a lot of time. So, she made it easy. She'll sign for everyone and lets them take pictures of her. But if she has to sign for everyone AND take individual pictures with everyone it will take a while. I think what she does is perfectly respectful.

Her response when asked how come she doesn't take photos with people, she said "would you if you looked like me?" She said to come back when she loses all the weight.
At least she's funny about it!

I saw the play Saturday night and also brought along a copy of my DVD of my favorite movie "The Accidental Tourist". There were maybe a total of 35 people waiting at the stage door. Kitty Carlisle was escorted in, I suppose to see Ms Turner! Kitty came back out about 10 minutes later, then about five minutes later Ms Turner came out. She signed for about four people and then she got to me, I told her she was fantastic in the play, and asked if she would sign my favorite movie. She gasped slightly and smiled, as she signed she said she loved doing the movie and thanked me for "the memory."
People were taking pictures, but I didn't hear anyone ask to have one taken with her.
This play is a must see if you have the chance. The entire cast is first rate!

Yes...she told me the same thing. She said that she does not want to be compared to the person next to her in the picture...She is very natural and pleasant person. Felt like a real person. Not too much fan "service" which I liked.
And...Bill is... with no questions, someone who values his fans. I always enjoy talking to him.

I can understand and respect why she won't take individual pics. But I have to say that when I was in London five years ago (I went for the soul purpose of seeing her on stage in The Graduate) I went to the stage door afterwards and waited for about ten minutes or so. It was me--a nervous 16 year old--and my older sister, and about fifteen middle-aged men surrounding me (and they were all of course, ahead of me). When she finally came out, she took one look at the crowd, saw me standing there with my little program and came directly over to me! She chatted with me a bit, asked me if I enjoyed the show. Then, after she signed I timidly asked her if she would take a picture with me (I knew I had one shot at this, no pun intended) and she graciously obliged. I have never forgotten that. She could not have been nicer!
