Bestofbroadway - In reference to Producers, I'm not talking just about the trashy one-liners (of which they are painfully abundant), but also about the theme of the show. I think the issues of self image and the Equal Rights Movement are far more admirable than two guys trying to swindle old ladies by offending the public with a flop Broadway musical. The Producers is sophomoric humor at best with the maturity of an SNL sketch and a completely forgettable score. Considering originality, the subject matter, staging, choreography, and score are much more original than TMM. Luckily I'm not a musical theatre snob who cannot appreciate the work and talent that goes into the pop shows as well as the more technically advanced structures of Sondheim, Brown, or LaChiusa.
I'll have fun watching the shows that please me. You have fun bashing whatever you need to make yourself feel superior. Don't let the other kids bully you on the playground.
Call me when you reach puberty.
