Do we know that?
I read [and learn] most threads on BWW but am perplexed about Mr Davenport. ALW thinks this man is one thing and most on here think something else.
Anyone want to tell me [briefly] what he has done to offend/annoy so many?
Thanks.

Read this thread. The link goes to the middle of it, although I'd say it's not a bad place to start anyway.

Lizzie did you mean to post this: https://forum.broadwayworld.com/readmessage.php?thread=1093207#4817996
Oops! Yes, thanks!
Also, don't forget how mad he got about SpongeBob.

One thing that particular bugs me about Davenport is how he promotes himself loudly, although he has little to no actual success to boast about (Jason Robert Brown and Trump do the same thing).
I've always found self-promotion to be the refuge of those whom no one else will promote.

Lumping Jason Robert Brown in with Trump and Davenport is one of the most insane things I've ever read here.
You don't remember Antonijan?

This is my favorite thing that I've read today.
There was also his buyout of review aggregator StageGrade- which he then shut down so it couldn't compete with his inferior DidHeLikeIt.
Ugh, right. And here's THAT story:

You're welcome, VintageSnarker, and thank you as well...you've made me smile!
I've found him to be a nice guy. Self-promotion and trying to leverage limited successes doesn't bother me. Most successful people do it. But I can understand why it would bother others. Obviously it has helped him take a leap forward with this new position.
wow i wow i never saw that stuff he wrote about SpongeBob the Musical...obviously i agree that it's a terrible idea but where the hell has Ken been??? Broadway has long been the place for commercial crap like that, and his indignation about its existence is laughable.
Especially since he produced such artistically pure things like The Awesome 80s Prom and That Bachelorette Show.
Also. The SpongeBob musical is wonderful.

No one is talking about his temperament.

People are being pretty harsh on the guy here. I meant to suggest that perhaps we should (at least slightly) temper the criticism of a person if he is in fact a nice guy who is imperfectly trying to find a place in the business of Broadway.

Daddy can we assume that you are either Ken, or (more likely) one of his unpaid slaves (I mean "interns"?

I had wondered if someone might have thought that, since I think I'm the sole person defending the cat from being kicked. If you read my other posts on these boards you'll get a sense for why your assumption is not correct. I'm applying the "do unto others" philosophy, hoping that someone would stand up for me if a whole post is ever dedicated to criticizing my work and passion.
