I saw both of these shows this week, and I'm hard pressed to call a winner.
Kiki & Herb was GENIUS. Bitter, caustic, and completely hysterical. Also moving, and rather thought provoking.
Martin Short? Terrific. What a cast. Capathia, Marc Shaiman, Brooks, Mary... all completely delicious. Short was utterly self-deprecating, and terrific. The Shaiman songs were a hoot.
Kiki & Herb wins, but only because it's closing tomorrow. See them both if you have a chance.
Oh, I also saw Jacques Brel again, and it's in better shape than ever. If you haven't gone, GO.

MS: Fame Become Me was the most fun I've had all summer. It truly was a laugh riot and so clever in the way it was done.
I think as entertainment and a better show all around, KIKI & HERB is a MUCH stronger show than FAME BECOMES ME ever could try to be. Its ashame that Short ultimately fails here, but there are some parts to his show that are just plain BAD!
Saw Short last Saturday & K/H today
Was K&H a limited run?
FBM was definitely better. Maybe I'm just insane, but K&H should have ended after act I. I was (quite literally) falling asleep during act II.
I totally agree Drunky re K/H
It should have been 90 minutes with no intermission & all show songs or standards. The anti catholic stuff in Act 1 was predictable. In Act 2, the hate GWB tirade started. It has now become tiresome & old hat. Kiki was on a soapbox most of Act 2 & it was BORING & much in bad taste. I liken it to root canal without the anesthesia - which I would have preferred
It was 8 for Act 1 but 2 just went on forever so we begrudingly gave it a 7 for the few good bits. It was a one trick pony that wore out its welcome early on. My wife's friend recommended it & she said she would take what he recommends now with a grain of salt
Short was far superior in every way & was entertaining. K/H was boring & preachy & did not do it for us

I'm with LaCageFan. K&H was sharp and ultimately unexpectedly moving.
FBM was ultimately blandly mediocre.
A number of people left at intermission today
Anyone who finds something tasteless in a Kiki & Herb show had no idea what they were getting themselves into and, well, you got what you deserved.
Fame Becomes Me was better in my opnion. I was entertained by Kiki and Herb for the first half, but it got old very quickly. Fame Becomes Me kept you on the edge of your seat since it was so incredibly random. Not to mention that "Stop the Show" alone is probably one of the best individual songs Broadway has seen within the past year.
