Any Kim Huber fans out there?
I saw her last night in a Seattle mini-concert of Schwartz songs, and she sang one of the best Meadowlark's I have ever heard, and also did a thrilling reading of Colors of the Wind. I adore this woman, and can't wait to see her work in Pippin.

Posted: 4/10/06 at 11:27amYes! Blast from the past. She was my Belle in '98 when B&TB toured to Chicago. Such a wonderful voice. I've seen her name around, but haven't seen her since.

Posted: 4/10/06 at 11:41amI saw Kim Huber back in 1999 as Florence in a production of Chess in Atlanta. Brian D'Arcy James was Anatoly and Sean McDermott was Freddie. Wonderful production!

She's in rehearsals in Seattle for Pippin right now.
I'm not sure what else she's been up to. Marie Christine is the last big think I know of that she did.

Posted: 4/10/06 at 12:16pmBesides doing "Pippin", she also was Maria in Seattle's 5th Avenue production of "Sound of Music" which replaced "Dr. Dolittle" last Nov./Dec. I presume she lives in the Seattle area.

Kim lives in Southern CA, where she does lots and lots and LOTS of regional theater. She just goes where the gigs are (Seattle, Kansas City, Wichita, etc...) She's great.

Posted: 4/10/06 at 12:40pmLOL Bobby. Notice I didn't post how she was in "Sound of Music" (yet I did enjoy her in "Sunset Blvd"). The ONLY reason I didn't refund my cancelled "Dr. Dollittle" tickets was because it was Christmas week, our seats were 2nd row center orchestra which were transferable and I figured "Sound of Music" might be fun while in the Xmas spirit. WRONG! To enjoy this show ever again I would need a complete frontal labotomy. Even with Terrance Mann as Captain Von Crapp, the show still came off as a paint by numbers revival. Though fine in the role, Huber just brought back images of Julie Andrews every time she sang. I think the only way I'd ever enjoy the show again is if maybe Eartha Kitt or Chita Rivera were cast as Maria.

Posted: 4/10/06 at 3:18pmindeed, kim is a dream to watch, hear and know. she's been a dear friend of mine for more than 15 years. her husband, roger befeler (phantom, b&b and les miz) is also a very talented performer . . . and i hear that their little girl, paige, is also a little star in the making!!! and you are right, her 'meadowlark' is the best thing going!!!

Posted: 4/10/06 at 3:24pmI would have loved to have seen her in "The Sound of Music" especially after seeing bland Luker in the revival. I just can't picture Terrence Mann as Captain von Trapp.

Posted: 4/10/06 at 11:23pmKim Huber just finished a run as Belle with Joesph Mahwohold as the Beast at Theater Under The Stars in Houston. She and her husband are both fantastic. I wish I could have seen her as Maria with Mr. Mann.

how was Joe as the Beast?
she is a tall Belle..whenever the casting director would tell me i was too tall for Belle, i would always say..WAIT...kim Huber is taller than me! LOL!
re: Kim Huber! Kim Huber! Kim Huber!#19
Posted: 4/11/06 at 12:00amI liked Joe a lot as the Beast, he does have a great voice and presence. I have been a fan of his ever since he played Javert in Les Miz. I can't imagine what a thrill it must have been to play opposite him on Broadway.

Posted: 4/11/06 at 2:03amI really enjoyed Kim and Terrence in Sound of Music... one of my best friends was Friedrich, and apparently the two of them are pretty much the nicest people in the world.

re: Kim Huber! Kim Huber! Kim Huber!#24
Posted: 4/11/06 at 12:22pmAndrew, I wasn't able to go back and see Lauren in Chess although I bet she was wonderful! I just happened to be going through Atlanta at the time and I was so excited to be able to see a show that I had always wanted to see! I was even more excited to see a cast that incredible! Brian D'Arcy James was an amazing Anatoly and his "Anthem" nearly brought the audience to tears -- it was so powerful and well-sung. After the show I got to speak with all three of the leads for a good half an hour outside of the theatre. They were all such nice people. Whenever I show people the picture of me with Sean McDermott and Brian D'Arcy James they never recoginize him (James) because he had grown a beard at the time.
