Kimberly Akimbo?

A local community theatre is doing a production of the play Kimberly Akimbo. I am considering auditioning for the role of Jeff. If anyone is familiar with the show, could they please give me a plot summary and an idea of how big the role of Jeff is?

It's a pretty substantial role. (It's the role that John Gallagher Jr played in the original production). He's essentially Kimberly's love interest, although nothing actually happens between them. If you're not familiar with the plot, it's about a sixteen year old girl (Kimberly) who has a disease that causes her to rapidly age--so that at sixteen, she resembles a sixty year old woman. It's a terrific play.

It's a freaking amazing show. I've had the privilege of directing this as well as acting in it (I decided to make Debra a straight male instead of a lesbian female, but my actor dropped out a few weeks before the show, so I stepped in for the role, much to my disappointment), and I wish you much luck.

Your theatre is most likely going to have an old lady playing Kimberly (which I highly disagree with. I had a teen in old lady makeup), which means that you, Jeff, will most likely have to makeout with someone very much older than you...just letting you know. It's a fantastic role. I wish you the best!
