Is this thought just out of nowhere? Or is there some article I missed that you failed to link to?

It is his creation so he should get the chance to do it.

Kind of sad would be if he didn't get to play Usnavi in a show that he's been working on his whole life.

I'm almost always in support to replacing Broadway people with bigger film names (as long as they are right for the part), but I am very happy that Miranda will (likely) be playing Usnavi in the film.

But has their been some sort of announcement the OP is referring to?

Or put unknowns as leads and have the supporting cast played by bigger names.

I think if a part is so well known to a person then they should play the lead in the movie. Lin is known for this show.. he SHOULD be allowed to play it.

"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."
