Kiss of the Spiderwoman revival?

I'm currently reading Manuel Puig novel. I have not seen the movie with William Hurt but did see the original cast on Broadway then Vanessa Williams. Both are outstanding.

The character Aurora is based on movies that Molina had seen and he added his own interpretation of that character that is glamorous and his own idea of what a woman she would or could have been. But the characters of Aurora are all heroines (panther woman, spider woman, zombie, Nazi spy) and these are strong women. He entertains his own imagination along in keeping Valentin interested.

That said Aurora has no race. She need not be white, black , Asian or Latina. Chameleon. But if ever they do a revival, this Aurora must have the sexiness of Zeta Jones, strength of Headley and a beautiful face (I'm sure make up and right lighting will do it).

And I hope they add more choreography.

Kiss of the Spiderwoman revival?

Don't even think of Bebe in a revival. She had a huge falling out with Hal Prince in London when she did the role. Something about throwing her shoes that she didn't like. Not that he would direct it again and she can't dance any longer. Chita could!!!

Wow that would explain why Hal Prince completely changed the subject when I asked if there was any archive of Bebe's performance in London when I saw him at a JRB SubCulture gig - though not necessarily why none exists. I was even going ask Matthew White at the Follies opening at the NT the other week. The fact that more people haven't heard her sing the title song bothers me to this day. Her phrasing and peformance - so uniquely Neuwirth were amazing. I must have seen Chita 6 or 7 times and heard her thousands more on the recording. I only saw BN once at the Shaftesbury and yet her's is the version in my head.
