Kristen Lee Kelly Returns to Rent in 2004

Yeah you can see the lines on her face, lol. Kendra has an amazing voice. You don't hear her much in the show, but I've heard her sing outside of it...she can really BELT. It's too bad she's leaving.

oh, I LOVE LOVE LOVE KLK!! I adore Kendra too but this is exciting news!! I dont think shes too old at all, and her voice is wonderful!!!
It isn't anything to worry about and doesnt mean theres a problem, and besides, the whole "RENT closing" topic has been done to death around here so let's just focus on the happy news since we've established RENT isnt going anywehre anytime soon! =D

KLK was my fave original cast member. I think I may have to go see Rent again if she's in it, even though I swore I'd never see it again

I never really understand why people saying going back to a show is a step down. I understand that she has done great things and shouldn't be limited to ensemble roles, but they asked her back, and she said yes. Maybe she just isn't doing anything else right now and wants to spend some time at a show she liked doing again. I find it interesting how often there are comments about how it is sad actors go back to shows they were once in after establishing themselves elsewhere. It doesn't take away from their past accomplishments, nor does it hinder any future ones. They're just doing what they want, or need, to do. If I were an actor, I'd take going back to a show that specifically wants me, even though I have done others things, over nothing at all.

not mention that most likely the salary ar RENT, avan as Maureen, is most likely significatly smaller than when she was just a swing in RHS.........

I think it will be great.. All of the OBC should come back

i have a feeling wilson will be back someday... i smell it lol.. if the show closes... i wish they would let the OBC close it.

Namo, once again, you beat me to it and read my mind. I too find it more than odd and a little disturbing actually, that she's going back to an ensemble role. Are times really *that* hard for Broadway actors? That's not even a lateral move. I understand that she hasn't been hired as a lead (she gets moved up but never originally),before and her 2 performance turn as Joplin couldn't have helped to change that any, but this is also not a good career move, at all.

At least she'll be beliveable as Mark's Mom now. If Wilson came back to the show, I'd die! I never got a chance to see him as Angel and I'm kicking myself.

I would love it if Wilson Cruz came back. He was fabulous in ttB but thats besides the point. Does anyone know the exact date of Kristen's return I am going mid February and would like to know who I will be seeing. Thanks

You find it odd and disturbing that she would return to an ensemble role? Let's see. She will have a steady income for the next 6 months in a show that she has said means very much to her in addition to receiving bonus pay when she goes on as Maureen and will be working again with one of her good friends. I'm sorry you find it disturbing because I doubt Kristen sees it the same. It's easy to make judgements about career moves but remember some people will work thier whole lives and never see even an ensemble role on Broadway. I don't see it as a step down and it surprises me that people are turning this into a negative thing.
