Hey all,
It's been ages since I have posted, but I'm dying to know if any of the St. Louisans that post here attended the Kristin Chenoweth Concert @ the Fox Saturday night. She was backed up by the Saint Louis Symphony, conducted by none other than Andrew Lippa. Kristin also brought two male Broadway dancers with her as well (I think one of them was David Elder, but I forgot the other's name).
The evening was an eclectic mix of Broadway (Kern, Berlin, Willson, Schwartz, Lippa), Operetta, and several songs written just for her (can't get enough of her "14G" number). She did an encore of "Glitter and Be Gay" which was quite stellar.
If you'd like to read a review I put on my blog, there's a link below. I hope to hear from some people!
Later,
Phil

I was there. It was a great evening...absolutely flew by. I was there with my mom, and we were both itching for intermission to be over so that the second act could start up. The energy and range for every song always impresses me, from "Popular," directed at Blagojevich, to the "Glitter and Be Gay" encore.
A few random thoughts: I remember wondering if the "recent breakup" she referenced was Aaron Sorkin. Also, I was kind of surprised by her pro-Obama statement, considering she's always depicted herself as very politically moderate. Being a liberal, I didn't mind too much, but it was still pretty surprising.
All in all, a very fun night at the theatre. I'll never pass up an opportunity to visit the Fox.
Kristin did shock me a little bit to make a political statement. She's definitely more liberal now than what she might have been if she stayed in Oklahoma (no offense to the moderates and liberals in that state). I always knew she loved the gays, but it was great to hear her on CBS' Early Show stating that she's pro-gay marriage despite how conservative her upbringing was. Nevertheless, I think that it's tough to talk about having hope in these hard times without referencing Obama--because I think even some of his detractors want him to succeed for the sake of the common good. I just think there's also those in our country still stung over McCain/Palin losing, and they aren't ready for anything that would even seem pro-Obama.
Ok, I'm blabbing...
I knew she was with Aaron Sorkin for a while. Now that I think of it, I wonder if the song "If" has any relevance to her breakup with him.
I was there also and loved every minute! However, was I the only one who noticed that she forgot the spoken part in the middle of Glitter And Be Gay? I was impressed with how well she covered. Everyone I talked to didn't even notice it. I also loved her blowing her nose and hacking up lugies.
Thank you for all this
She certainly did forget the words during the interlude, but she covered it well. Only people who know the aria would have noticed
Like Kristin, I was a bit "under the weather" Saturday night, but I would not have missed that concert! She was simply amazing! Did any of you recognize the song she sang/spoke in the second act "I wanna do this..." and "I wanna see..."?
I loved hearing "Taylor, the Latte Boy" and "Apartment 14G".
She may have been sick, but it wasn't reflected in her vocal quality.
SuperShubert.... "If You Hadn't But You Did" is from Comden and Green's revue "Two on the Aisle" from 1951.
As far as Sorkin goes, I don't think she's been with him in a while. Last I heard she was dating some guy in his early/mid 20s.

I didn't go to the concert, but I had friends who did and they absolutely loved it!
Bump. For obvious reasons; look at my username.
I traveled to St. Louis for the concert, and I am just now recovering from the whirlwind weekend. I was also at the concert!
It was wonderful to see Kristin in a concert venue. The highlights for me included 14G, Taylor the Latte Boy, 'Till There was You, Glitter and Be Gay, and For Good. I was a bit disappointed she didn't sing My New Philosophy, but you can't have it all!
I thought she was less energetic that I've seen her on TV and on the Broadway stage, but she was clearly under the weather and possibly a little nervous. She had lots of friends and family in the audience. As others mentioned, she also said she is going through a breakup, and really did cry during one of the songs.
There was no program or song listing. So when Andrew Lippa walked out, I thought he looked familiar, but I figured that I wouldn't know the conductor of the St. Louis orchestra! When she announced him, I about fell out of my seat.
I was surprised that she made a political statement, but I thought it was very tasteful and respectful.
She looked gorgeous. In the first half of the concert, she wore an adorable pink sequin baby doll dress. She wore a short navy blue backless dress in the second act, and she changed into a long black dress for her encore.
Kristin has such a beautiful voice and cute personality, and it was a very enjoyable evening. She said that she did a concert in St. Louis because one of the Charlie Brown producers is from St. Louis and asked her, too. So that is why she chose St. Louis, and I was very glad she did!

They announced last week that Kristin Chenoweth will be doing a concert this summer in her home state of Oklahoma. It's gonna be part of the OK Mozart Festival in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. I'm so excited 'cause I love Kristin! They said that tickets are going on sale in March.
