Is there any truth to this rumor. Two different people told me this in the same day.
Just wondering.

Posted: 5/9/05 at 5:38pmYou mean is she in it now? No. Will she be in it? Most probably not in the city to city. There was a thread with a rumor about LA though.

Posted: 5/9/05 at 5:41pmI think the rumor is just that. I have a friend at the Pantages who says neither she or Idina Menzel is doing the show in L.A.

Posted: 5/9/05 at 5:42pmI meant will she be on the tour? I'm from Cleveland and was told she'd be in the tour at some point, including the Cleveland leg of the tour.

It seems unlikely, given her many film projects....
She also mentioned in a recent interview that she didn't think she'd be revisiting the role of Glinda anytime soon.

If Cheno did Wicked again, it would only be in LA.

Posted: 5/9/05 at 5:48pmOddly enough, the friend who works at the Pantages said the only leg Chenoweth had considered rejoining is the upcoming SF leg. I have no idea why. But apparently this is old news. I don't think she's planning on rejoining the tour at anytime in the near future.

Can Idina even sing the part anymore?
is this serious? idina only ended her run in wicked 4 months ago, and now she's in a MUSICAL movie. which involves SINGING, even if it isn't live. there has never been any problem with her voice.

Posted: 5/9/05 at 5:53pmWell I know towards the end of wicked, her voice was sounding a bit strained...although from what I heard from people and from clips, her January 2nd performance was AMAZING! anyway, moving on....I'm pretty sure, after RENT the two actresses are thinking about opening Wicked in London....this is not a fact, just word of mouth...

Posted: 5/9/05 at 5:56pmI know Idina is starring in a movie musical. And that does involve singing... in a studio where she gets as many chances as she needs. Idina was not sounding pretty near the end of her run, so I'm just wondering if she's hurt her voice at all. Screaming that high eight times a week for more than a year can't be doing any good.

Posted: 5/9/05 at 6:24pmCheno just cancelled two concert dates in NJ to film a Robin Williams movie, do you really think she would rejoin WICKED at this time with her being so busy and all?

Posted: 5/9/05 at 6:39pmThis is not true. My friend who knows Stephanie and my other friend's girlfriend who knows Kendra say they are staying for L.A. Besides, that would be too soon to leave in L.A.

When Cheno was on Letterman a few weeks back, she basically said that she was done with the role... I can't see her doing the tour, not with West Wing and her movie schedule...
BTW Clumsy - are you going to see Patti?

Yeah, and then the day after she said she'd do it...it depends what they'd pay her. Kristin Chenoweth <3 $$$.

That's not cool...could you sing it better than she could? doubtful.
That's wierd. Maybe that'd be her big apology to the gays.
Funniest thing I've seen all day.

Posted: 5/10/05 at 1:37ami like how people ask "can you do it better?" as if that's an excuse for someone being bad. If the answer were no, that doesn't make Idina any better. just thought I'd throw that out there. having said that I didn't mind Idina in this. Tony worthy? No, but this has been discussed to death. I've actually heard more consistantly that Kristin won't be revisiting the role unless it's a movie version or something. Money may be a factor but honestly as an artist, once your with something for 3 years and you're offered new things, then you want to be done with it. I think at that point money isn't the first thing on your mind. Esp when you have as many doors opening as Kristin does.

I see what you're saying to a certian extent, but respectfully disagree. Idina wasn't a *huge* name before Wicked, which to me says that she was cast based on talent, not fame or anything else. It's one thing for someone to say they disliked her performance, that's understandable. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. It's not alright (in my opinion) to say that she was "bad" or "can't sing." Idina has performed some pretty vocally demanding roles over the course of her career, having seen her in everything she's done, I think her vocal style is versatile. Her acting isn't as great as some other performers, but I'd say it's better than mediocre...and anything she lacks in the acting department, she makes up for vocally.
Just my thoughts.

Posted: 5/10/05 at 10:41amI too have heard Idina in the BIG 4 that's she's done. There really is no vocal variety there. She's good at one thing and that's the high screamy belt. She hasn't done anything else really. Maureen (rent), Amneris (Aida), Kate (Wild Party), Elpheba (Wicked) are all screamy belty roles. Even her solo music is kind of chick rocky screamy beltish. Now I'm not saying it's bad to like Idina at all, but on the same token, if you didn't like her that much or hated her acting, then it's perfectly within a person's right to say she was bad. I mean what would you call bad acting...it's just bad and you have to call her out on it. that's the thing about being an artist (esp in the theatre). We all do bad work from time to time. Hopefully it's a rarity. Now I would agree with you if someone said that Idina has no talent. That's not true, she does. But she was only Ok in my opinion in Wicked and she was downright bad in The Wild Party. But good and bad generally are opinions and everyone's entitled to theirs.
