What a refreshing change Kristin's 'Let Yourself Go' cd is. I'm so glad that it isn't full of the typical Musical covers e.g. Being Alive, Somewhere, Send in the Clowns etc. Instead it contains relatively unknown songs that sound fresh and showcases her amazing vocal skills.
I look forward to hearing more from this talented soprano.

Posted: 3/5/06 at 9:11amI'd hardly call "I'm a Stranger Here Myself" and "How Long Has This Been Going On?" unknown, but she does do a great job on them. However, these are the songs she's more suited to sing--Berlin, Rodgers, Kern, Gershwin. I don't know how I'd feel about Cheno singing a bevy of Sondheim favorites, except that I would probably dislike it.

Posted: 3/5/06 at 2:25pmIt's a great CD and I especially like the title song. It made her bland, second CD (for me) all the more disappointing.

Posted: 3/5/06 at 3:48pmTo me, Kristin's version of "If You Hadn't But You Did" (often referred to simply as "If") always brings down the house. I saw Liza do it and she couldn't top Kristin at all.

Posted: 3/5/06 at 5:26pmHer second album is just as good as the first, just different sensitivity. Going from Broadway to Christian/Inspirational music isn't easy, but I thought she did fabulous on both.

Claire Moore does a terrific, over-the-top version of "If" on a BBC CD called :Celebrating Gypsy, Funny Girl, & Gentlemen Prefer Blondes: Tribute to Jule Styne
Here is a link on amazon.com and they have a sound clip.
