No she was to play Elizabeth. She did the role in the reading and was to have done the show but chose to take Pushing Daisies when it was offered over YF.

Thanks for the cast list, Brody. I want to say Brian D'Arcy James played Dr.Frankenstein in that workshop, though I may be getting confused with the fact he was once under consideration for the role, as was Hunter Foster (though I doubt the latter was seriously considered with sister Sutton playing Inga). From that article it seems that every actor was considered for the role and I imagine Jackman, Fallon, and Cavanaugh all decided to pass on it.

yes Kristin was to play elizabeth like everyone said, and Hugh Jackman and Eric McCormack were considered for the part of Victor, Hugh Jackman being their first choice.. also while Roger bart was out during most of the previews.. They were looking at actors for a replacement if he could not do the show anymore, and they again went to Hugh Jackman as a possible replacement.

Cloris Leachman was originally to reprise her role as Frau, and played the role in the original workshop reading.. but was later sent a letter saying she would not be cast further in the project. They felt they wanted to make the film and the musical two separate things, and didn't feel she could handle the physical aspects that would now be with the character... Later after seeing her on Dancing with the Stars, Mel Brooks took back what he said, and asked her to join the cast as Frau to replace Beth Leaval whom had replaced Andrea Martin... the show however closed before she'd resume the role.
