I think he did an excellent job and can't see why anyone would complain about or judge his performance. I sure some will tell us why. He's attractive, very funny, sings, dances, obviously loves Broadway, is a TV personality with two Emmys, two babies, a hot BF, works well with others, and contributes to stop the extinction of tree frogs. He wasn't playing HAMLET (yet), he was hosting an award show and I think he did a damn good job.
Last night was the most fun I've had watching the Tony Awards in a good decade. Starting the show with a politically incorrect number was perfect in the year of the Mormons. The only time I felt the production lag at all was not because of its excellent host but because of the Spiderman segment. Everything came to a screeching halt!
He definitely set the right tone for the show, considering the success of BOM. And he seemed to have more charisma this year, maybe the other host jobs have given him more confidence?
"Rather than ignore those who choose to publish their opinions without actually talking to me, I am happy to dispel any rumors or misconceptions and am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest and feel most fortunate to be working with wonderful people in the business I love."
-Neil Patrick Harris
And many of us were skeptical (at best)of the decision to bring him back. I couldn't muster more than a yawn at the news, but I was wrong. And I'm glad I was.
